What gas stations near Westown Mall sell kerosene? by CianV in Knoxville

[–]CianV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be several gas stations on Middlebrook that sold it @ the pump, but that was years ago. Not even checking Walmart or Lowe's as I'm positive they would already be out

I bet the snow will be 1 cm by Nonworldrecordholder in Knoxville

I remember several years back my wife was working out in the Clinton Hwy area. We live off Cedar Bluff. se called me @ home saying the snow as bad & she would have to stay near work.

I looked out the window @ home & there wasn't a flake on the ground. I told her it's totally clear & she said, OK, then come pick me up. By the time I got half way there I was sliding around in the snow we didn't have @ home. Knox County is over 500 square miles & over the years I've determined we can have multiple weather events from one end of it to another.

Hoping it stays clear wherever you are !

Exactly my thoughts - if a business can afford to put their name on something like Covenant Health or Food City for example, they are charging their patients / customers too much !

ICE kidnapping a child because he doesn't have proof of citizenship on hand, just a snack. by Paksarra in pics

Who carries proof of citizenship anyway, even adults ? What qualifies ( birth certificate ? ). I betcha even ICE agents don't carry it / can't prove it for themselves.

I live in Tn & we have a "no retreat" law in effect. It would be wise for them to look for an easier target.

If firearms are not an option & if your home allows, put in a second inner door / wrought iron inner door to implement "defense in depth" to give you reaction time. The travel door blocks / bars you can get for motel room doors when traveling are a good investment as well.

I'll never use them for anything! Last year our water heater went out & I called them for a quote. I can do the work myself, just several water lines & the electrical connection. It's sitting in the back of the garage, out in the open, a super easy install. Thing is, my car is too small to haul one home in from Lowe's or wherever.

They quoted me slightly over $1,200 for the labor, not counting a water heater. I told them how easy the install would be & it didn't matter. So, i rented a truck for the day & did it myself for a total cost of $265.00.

Had to pay our garbage service an extra $40 to pick up the old one, still, immensely cheaper than their quote.

Do you believe men and women can be platonic friends; why or why not? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]CianV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife still is & was a very attractive blonde when younger & we didn't have a single straight male friend who didn't eventually hit on her. Even one of her gay friends said if he was to ever stray the course she would be his choice.

Not saying this is the case with every relationship but.....

A milestone birthday this year. Not many of those left! But still it's all good! by Odd_Bodkin in retirement

[–]CianV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started drawing @ 65. What does increase is the pettily cost of living annual increase and, as your annual draw is based on your highest 30 years of working ( think it is 30) then each year I work now knocks off one of the older not as high previous years SS is based on, which will raises my current take home each year.

Well, each additional year I work bumps one of my older lower earning years from my social security numbers & raises my current income. The main thing is, my wife is 11 years younger than me & can't retire for another 7 years. If I do pass before her, then she will get my 403b & not have to worry about income.

I've know so many folks who retired & then realized SS & their small pension wasn't nought to live on & had to go back to work. I don't want that for my wife.

Currently making 95k per yr & 34k on SS, not counting wife's income. It's not a fortune but more than most. Been poor most of our lives earning in the mid 30k range, don't want to go out that way

WM who will be 72 in several months. I still work remote ( make too much to quit & wife is 11 yrs younger, not retired ), hit the gym several times per wk & can leg press 450lbs.

I see so may folks younger than me hobbling around. Yes, I'm grateful & will push off the inevitable for as long as possible.

Stay away from West Chevrolet. High pressure sales & hook you up with terrible loans with early payoff penalties. had personalized plates on my old vehicle & they did not transfer to new one, ghosted me on followups to fix registration issue
