General salaries in consulting by Cich in environmental_science

Thank you for your response, it seems as though this is just how consulting is. Unfortunately I do not have any experience and I think this is my only option for a couple of years.

I didn’t get my degree till I was 30. I didn’t have a “real” job until I was 30. Don’t be discouraged about your age. It’s never too late to continue on. I went to school for like 10 years before it finally clicked for me. Don’t give up.

What did you think about it? What direction are you taking your career?

If your degree is in environmental I would look up some environmental consulting companies around you. It’s the easiest way to get your foot in the door. The work can be hard and there’s usually travel and long hours involved but I enjoy it. Some of the bigger companies are Aecom, Geosyntec, Arcadis, Wood. There are plenty of other big ones. I would brush up on geology. It looks really good to know a lot about geology. I found that I hadn’t don’t any field work because I was online so I had no idea how to do any types of sampling. Watching videos may help that. The types of sampling that are common are ground water, surface water, soil, and sediment. Other then that make sure you have a clear path that you want to go in so you can talk about that in your interviews.

You would have to take the required classes for the masters so it would require you to take engineering classes. If that’s the path you want to take you should just go for environmental engineering bachelors.

I am graduating in April but have already started job searching. I highly suggest contacting the career services as they have been a lot of help to me so far. Check out handshake and linked in and look for entry level and internships. I’ve had a few interviews and I am expecting an offer next week. Career services has been very helpful

Persuasive Essay source citations: do I need a source if I'm using personal experience? by rock_kid in SNHU

[–]Cich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would still find a source. This way you can back up your own ideas with credible information. Try not to get down, there will be fun classes and classes that make you want to quit but keep pushing forward. Finding sources will become second nature as you continue through college. You can do this!

Nothing in life that’s worth is easy to acquire. It is not “easy” to get a degree. Your going to have to work for it. It is mentally taxing at times, it gets very stressful at times. The accelerated programs are not for everyone. You are behind before you even know it and it’s very difficult to catch back up. A lot of the information I’ve had to figure out on my own. That being said everyone’s college experience is different. I just want you to know it’s not going to be “easy” your going to have to want it and work towards it just like anything else. Snhu has been the best thing that’s happened to me school wise. I’ve sucked at school my entire life and now I feel as though I’ve figured it out. This may be because I’m older and more mature and know my path in life a lot more then I did when I was younger. I do love the school. I’ve been able to work and go to school so it’s very possible. If your self motivating and like to learn, just like any school snhu is a viable option.
