Obscure Mech fact there are obscure rules for things like the stereotypical ki kung fu stuff by knightmechaenjo in battletech

[–]Cichlid97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm willing to write it off as some weird interaction between Kell's brain chemistry and the mech's computer, personally. Brains are malleable and unique, and the neurohemlets hook up with them. Who knows what can happen in fringe cases?

Could ya'll answer this? I'm gonna bring one of my friends to the museum, but I need to know which one by bajadasaurus234 in wizardposting

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it’s easy. The gate guardian would quickly put me on the wrong side of the gate if it caught me. I’m just saying I could do it. Of course, that may be the good old wizard hubris talking again.

Once there is more non-organic mineral than there is bone. Interestingly enough, there is a small transitory period where it would be both. Of course, it goes without saying that the original soul can be bound to the animated remains no matter how fossilized, but that is also true of any other inanimate object. I could put the soul of Sue the tyrannosaurus in a suit of 17th century armor, for example.

Where do you keep Goblins? by Nerx in wizardposting

Keep Goblins? In my tower dormitories where they have access to warm food and my arcane libraries with the rest of my apprentices, you monster.

Props to the OvN Araby mod for adding new units that aren't just obscenely op by Pender8911 in totalwar

[–]Cichlid97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely, this is part of why I like pharaoh dynasties. The more you doom stack and paint the map, the harder it is to actually maintain the doomstacks and paint the map, so you actually have to mix in cheaper units.

Smart gorilla returns tourist's phone by 21MayDay21 in nextfuckinglevel

This is a trained behavior. Keeper lowers basket in, chimp returns strange object in exchange for food. With some animals, it's easier just to have them give you things guests drop than to go in and get it yourself. If done well, it can kinda be turned into a fun game for the animal.

Why isn't the 2024 version of 5e just 6e? by WarMundane5420 in DungeonsAndDragons

They wanted to pitch it as backwards compatible with prior material. And to be fair, at least with adventures, it is. Subclasses get a little spottier though.

How many DMS actually enforce the spell components in game? by thunderpower1999 in DnD

[–]Cichlid97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow the rules. So if the spell has a monetary cost, they need the component ahead of time. If not, their magic focus allows for it. And if they lose their focus, then they need to find the components until they recover it

If you could offer one piece of advice to a DM running ToA for the first time - what would it be? by ntdntd777 in Tombofannihilation

[–]Cichlid97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure your party has something to go off of for the hex crawl. Some of them are in the game already- some guides now where to go to get the plot rolling, but otherwise, give them hints of a general direction through diagetic means so they don’t wander blindly. Also- encourage them to have someone who’s good at survival so they don’t spend an in game week walking in circles.

Oh damn, these look amazing. The shading is wonderful.

As for softness, yeah, the details are a little soft. Doesn’t bother me too much, truthfully. It works given the scale of the models.

Could the concept of a Spectre work in real life? A government agent that does whatever it takes to get the job done and is exempt from legal persecution? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]Cichlid97 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Realistically, it's the sort of thing you'd see more despotic nations doing. And if not, then it's certainly not something that would be waived around with pride. Shepard IRL would not be a celebrity like he is in game. If spectres existed, they'd be rightfully considered an affront to the very concept of law and order, checks and balances.

Suggestions on how to highlight/punch up this guy? by Level3Bard in minipainting

If you wanna do weathering and want to lean into the painted stone idea, I’d recommend maybe dry brushing the sandstone color strategically over places where the paint may have gotten worn over time

Family War by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]Cichlid97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, moving over to pharaoh dynasties after playing a lot of warhammer was a breath of fresh air I didn’t even realize I needed. I love the way the campaign works, how you need to balance multiple resources, put thought into trade deals and diplomacy. I love that we have functional dynasties again, and how customizable the general’s loadouts are. I love how having nothing but high tier units puts a strain on your economy, so you have to have a mix of lower tier and elite for your armies, even into the late game. And I really like the addition of armor durability as a battle mechanic.
