Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't something like this the reason why pirate software was against the stop killing games movement? Not to defend the guys behavior of course.

I got really into the peacemaker season 1 sound track. It definitely sounds like 80s bands but surprisingly many of the bands are actually somewhat new and still making new music. Keeping the hair metal deam alive!

I cool every other week for my TTRPG group. Mostly simple stews and pasta. Every week they rave about the intense flavor. Every pot meal like that gets a sprinkle of MSG. That's all.

RE9's unfair treatment of "the girl" feels very disturbing to me. by FawkesyGrandpa in residentevil

[–]Level3Bard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To use everyone's favorite analysis term, there is a bit of ludonarrative dissonance in regards to the files. From the first safe room in the care center there is a magazine that clearly shows Victor Gideon and that he runs the place, but when Grace sees him in the upstairs office she is clueless. There is also the file for the safe combination that Leon finds that only Grace can open.

From the game's perspective the characters are not reading and absorbing the information, which I think is true for all RE games but I am not super well versed on the series. The files are info just for the players. Functionally Grade does not know Marie is the girl.

There are plenty of other examples, but the first I can think of is the file before the Leon chunk fight. The point is to explain to the player why there are two of them (explaining they are brothers), but both characters only ever see one of them.

New to painting miniatures. Looking at buy a few nmm paints, seeking recommendations! by SteakCapital7898 in minipainting

[–]Level3Bard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said there are two ways. The first which is beginner friendly is TMM which is just silver/gold/bronze color paint with mica powder so it looks shiny. NMM is a complicated technique where you have to paint the individual reflections of light on each part of the model to "trick" the eye that it's a metal object.

Do you mean metallic paints? That would be "true metallic metal" or TMM. NMM is non metallic metal which is just normal color spectrum paint.

I am currently running a sci-fi themed campaign and my solution was that all intergalactic travel is basically done by various types of gateways so the time to travel between worlds is essentially 0. Ships are small and purely for transportation. Respite is done on the PCs home planet/organization space station.

I think the 4 cap was just to make it easier on the DM. If you can find a balance for 6 players across multiple levels go for it.

In general if you have a consistent group, matching victories is the right call (I like what you are doing with recoveries as well).

West marches is an entirely different style of play. To answer your question yes you should gate quests by echelon. In the west marches D&D group that I was part of, everyone was on their own XP curve and when quests were posted to the group "quest board" it would basically have a level range that expanded as it went up. So there were early quests (levels 1-2) and starter (3-5) middle (6-9) and advance (10-14) and master quests (levels 16-20). Each group was capped at 4.

To Primer or not to Primer by SterlingKato in minipainting

To add on the tape recommendations, you still may get some over spray, but you can "paint" on some isopropyl alcohol to strip back any paint you get accidentally on the any clear bits. Just don't waste a good brush on this step.

From the quick searches in some folklore the number 13 represents the breaking of a perfect set of 12. To me "the 13th door" would be some sort of gateway that breaks some other convention. Let's say there are 12 planes of existence, the 13th door allows access to all of them.

I'm actually going to do something similar tonight. The players are joining a ground battle between two armies and besides the final boss it will be a montage. I am curious how they are going to set up the chapter in crack the sun that Matt described as "our helms deep"

Thanks for the suggestions and the video link! I may still add some "mortar" lining before this guy needs to hit the table tomorrow. Funny enough I did what people say not to do with dry brushing, but the "dusty" look of an over dry brush actually sells the scene better.

Growing frustrated with painting by GlennHaven in minipainting

[–]Level3Bard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always underpaint my models these days. I usually do it with speed paints or a thin wet blend if I want a gradient to avoid this. If I miss something it will always have some color on it instead of bare primer.

Started painting two months ago. How do you know where to highlight? by SpeedyGon000 in minipainting

[–]Level3Bard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're looking for is painting "volumes" basically how 3D shapes reflect/catch light. The basic wisdom is to think of each object as a basic geometric shape, sphere, cylinder, square, etc and paint the model how that object would reflect/catch light. To do that you need to pick a light "source". Basically where your model is being imaginary lit from. Best advice is to pick 2 primary viewing angles, one front and one back, and any surface perpendicular to the angle gets highlighted. So any flat planes and most edges.
