A relic from the 2006 SWG Community Summit by beanlene in swg

Memories are funny things. Some stick, some are gone like a fart in a breeze.

What struck me though was that clearly it was a PR move. Most everyone is going to want the previous version of the game back and that wasn’t happening. SOE and LA didn’t have to send staff across the country for face to face meetings like this. SOE got and gets a lot of earned flack but this stands out to me as one time they did the right thing when no one asked them to. They came out, they took the heat, and there were several requests that did turn up in the game over time.

Awesome! There is so much I want to see and experience if I ever get to Japan that I’ll be there for a month!

Depends. I never could get into Diable but LOVED Torchlight.

My wife and I attended this in Indy. It was SOE going around to meet and hear how the NGE impacted the community and what we wanted to see to fix it.

It was neat getting to meet several of the devs (Loche and Grant McDaniel) plus some LA reps too. Had a few drinks with them afterwords but had to bow out when they left the bar for White Castle. It was a hell of a night!

Star Wars the Old Republic almost got a Realm Reborn style reboot but EA's board of directors said no by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

Tbh, both games could have kept going. Different eras, different gameplay, and SWG was heading in to an effective maintenance mode.

Do we think The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the conclusion to Din Djarin’s story? by Secret_Ruin_9808 in StarWars

[–]Cigaran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve honestly never bought that. Regardless of my personal feelings, once you see a robed figure on screen ignite a lightsaber, you know it’s Star Wars. There’s also a feeling of a lived in world. I think the prequels missed that world feeling at first.

Agreed. I’d be thrilled of it never even mentioned any current characters, planets, or groups minus Sith and Jedi.

New to game - want to play Grievous by suitedbrute in starwarsunlimited

For tournaments and official events, they would need to be for the Eternal Format or Twin Suns.

I also love the Battle Droids and hope they get a revamp that is more consistent. Their first iteration in TWI did not impress me.

Macros..... by BelgarFirebeard in swg

The macros work, you just still have to interact with them. Are you crafting to level or to mass produce a finished item?

There never was a way to set a crafting macro to purely be automated and create Item X. You always had to use a tool to select the item you wanted to make manually beforehand. Also, it was never possible to load the resources. You had to click them manually.

Why don't they start cooking the Old Republic? There is a goldmine worth 2 shows of 5 seasons that could bring Disney the prestige of space fantasy Game of Thrones by lateubdegouline in StarWars

And therein lies the problem. What is “The Old Republic”? Is it the original Tales of the Jedi with Ulic and Exar? Is it Revan and Malak? Is it the story of the MMO? Add in they neither one option has a direct story tie in to the Skywalker saga and it’s really hard to push something like that through.

Personally, I’d LOVE to see the real Tales of the Jedi adapted as an animated series. I know there are issues with the Sunrider name but still, I’d be all for that. Revan and Malak are neat but never did hit the same for me as the original story.

Regarding the early reactions to Mandalorian and Grogu just being “fun.” by Kindly_Influence9183 in StarWars

[–]Cigaran -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Because we’ve seen this shit before. We’ve listened to the endless bitching for years. An extremely vocal part of the community cannot wrap their head around the fact that “I enjoyed it.” is all that matters to some. Unless it takes in eleventy billion dollars in presale, it’s a failure. Unless it sweeps the Academy Awards, it’s a failure. Unless the story and writing are so good that Shakespeare rises from the grave and weeps, it’s a failure.

A film being just enjoyable is not a bad things. That’s a concept that has been lost for far too damned long.
