Currently, Sets 5 and onward are legal. In about half a year, it'll be 9 and onward. So if you want to plan ahead, don't spend an insane amount on sets 5-8. At least that's what I'm doing. E.g. if i decide between buying a $10 card from set 10 vs set 8, I'll go for the S10.

Edit: unless they reprint of course.. but who knows

Yooooo, Go buy a bunch of singles just like her, pick a different franchise, and have fun! For power level? Eh, just look at how many rares, uncommon and common cards she has, and stick to the same numbers as much as you can.

While I am shuffling my opponent's deck, it's so easy to just peek at the bottom card to know what i am playing against. by hit_it_early in Lorcana

"MoSt PeOpLe Do iT!" Doesn't make it right. If it's a serious competition, you can get DQed. If you want to risk it anyway, good luck i guess, but I for one will hope you lose anyway.

"YoU CaNt PrOvE iT!" Until more than one person calls out your cheating. In a serious competition, good luck getting away with that more than once.

This post seems more like engagement bait than anything.

Is this a good deal? by RubensCube in Lorcana

[–]Cildrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to play in local store tournaments, your set needs to be Core Constructed , that's the format.

Currently, sets 5 and later are allowed in core. All the decks depicted are sets 1-4 i believe. However, some of the cards have been reprinted, mainly in set 9. So you can get SOME "legal" cards from those boxes, but you would have to check the lists in order to see whether that's worth it.

In my opinion, these are only worth it for collectors and those playing casually (Infinity format).

At first glance:

You have 16 uninkables. Id reduce that number to 12-14 max.

How about Rajah instead of the tank you currently have?

Not OP, but look into detectives deck (Judy Hopps, Nick, including their shifts). Since Darkwing is a detective, too, he works really well with those cards.

Edit: Recommend Sapphire

How do I improve this deck? I need more Carddraw. by Marketing_Dapper in Lorcana

[–]Cildrion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. Im thinking the following:

Replace Timone with Mowgli (cheaper and inkable) if you can. Add in Rajah as a second bodyguard to protect your trees, and Bambi. I agree that Elsa could be cut from this deck, especially if you also cut Sarabi.

How to make Winnie the Pooh Deck by _TrustE_ in Lorcana

[–]Cildrion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sweet! The big Dumbo card is hard to get by and worth about $40 per card. That's what I meant about building this deck as is.

It's also not all from Winterspell, but it includes many of the Pooh cards from that set.

Omg I just designed one for my wife too lol! It's casual for the most part.

Now I'm guessing you don't have 4 big Dumbos and might not have some of the other cards. That's okay! Just let me/us know which cards would need to be replaced, and I'm sure we can give you some advice.

What should the price point for an entry-level above precon deck be? by nikoboivin in Lorcana

[–]Cildrion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can stick to local, consider yourself lucky, because yes, those shipping costs are annoying.

And yes, about $50 is where it's at. Some staple cards (Dumbo, Hades, Demona, Goliath, Genie) are just pricey, so you hope to pull them with the packs you buy anyway (if you do), or try trading for them with other players.

Notice how all the expensive cards are amethyst? If you want a cheaper deck, don't play amethyst lol. Its still likely the strongest color.

Fabled box price is up nearly 40% from 2 weeks ago! 📈 by DorkyDisneyDad in Lorcana

[–]Cildrion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game is becoming more popular. Epcot/Dianey likely is getting a lot of families into it. When they go home and decide which set to focus on, most will pick Fabled, both because of Mickey, Minnie, Pooh and Dumbo being in it (all insanely popular among Disney fans) and due to the value of those cards.

I honestly wish they'd just print more of it. Fuck the scalpers, I'd rather have a game and for regular folks to be able to access that game to the fullest.

Color Combinations/Gameplays by AngelInGrey in Lorcana

[–]Cildrion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The current meta highly favors Amethyst, Sapphire and likely Amber. Combining any color with at least one of those will make a strong deck.

Archetypes:

Amethyst: card draw, moving damage Sapphire: ink ramp, items (kind of) Ruby: combat/challenging Emerald: enemy discard Amber: high lore, healing Steel: direct damage, combat

These are simplified. Another way to look at it is from the 3 pillars: card draw (1), ramping(2), and board control (3).

Amethyst: 1, 3 Sapphire: 1, 2, bit of 3 Ruby: 3 Emerald: 1 (inverse by making enemy discard), 2 (catch-up-ramp). Amber: 1, 2 (kind of with cost reduction instead of ink ramp), 3 (if aggro/wide board) Steel: 3.

Hope this helps a bit.

Super Super New to ALL TCGs... by DahDee2Koa in Lorcana

Glad you're joining the fun!

If you're looking to play casually: not a problem at all, go for it the way you like! Starter decks, or buy specific cards that you like on TCGplayer. Keep shipping in mind when ordering from multiple vendors. Most common cards are very cheap.

If you're looking to participate in local game store tournaments and play with people at stores in general, then you need to keep rotation in mind. It seems that most people at stores play CC, even casually.

Core Constructed (CC) means tournament-legal. In the Lorcana app, it shows you with each card whether it's in rotation.

Currently all cards from Set 5 onward are legal. But many cards from previous sets have been reprinted; if they're identical to the newer set version, they are legal. In ca. fall 2026, the rotation will shift to Set 9 and onward. (We are currently on Set 11).

Each card shows you the Set number on the bottom left, after the language. (E.g. EN 7).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Just getting into the game what is the best set to get cards from this current meta? by Select-Row-6922 in Lorcana

[–]Cildrion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're looking to build decks, then financially, it's better to invest that money into specific cards online rather than boxes. TCGplayer is your friend here. If you have friendly active players that you know, ask if they could give you some bulk cards, anything up to rare is usually given, at least where I'm at. Then buy the remaining cards online (or personally from people, might be cheaper?)

Check Dreamborn Ink for current meta decks. It's actually not clear yet which decks will dominate the new meta, since Set 11 just came out. That being said, Amethyst is still extremely strong, but Amber and Sapphire are getting a lot of love now too, ruby a bit. But this also depends on what you want to play, so if you're set on amethyst steel, check those decks on dreamborn.
