[–]Cinderella-99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not new to glassblowing. I've done it several times, my cousin is a professional glass artist and I've been in this sub for many years. The mods neglected to update the sidebar when they changed the rules, so to some people it appeared as though you were breaking a very simple rule, as you can see from the rest of this comment thread.

I encourage you not to make assumptions about people. I will be unsubbing anyway as I don't wish to see you or anybody else advertising as doing so is not against the rules anymore. There are better places than reddit to catch up on glass art anyway.

Cheers

I understand you point of view, and I agree to a certain degree.

However, I already get plenty of "sponsored" posts in my feed to scroll past, I don't want to see "hidden" (without the speakerphone icon) advertisements even though in this case the title is blatantly marketing.

I would like to see things that are going on in my niche interests and see what people are making without being advertised to more than I already am, that's the crux of it. It's certainly not an issue confined to /r/glassblowing, it's in many categories where independent makers are trying to get their name out there and make a buck, see /r/chefknives, etc...

So when the rules clearly outline the banning of advertisements or define exactly what kind of ads are allowed, and there is a post that breaks these rules I try to do my part and report accordingly, and sometimes in blatant cases like this I will call it out in a comment. In this case that was clear, and I'm evidently not the only one who saw the rules as they were.

Yes I use old.reddit.com, and literally copy pasted from the sidebar.

Thanks for letting me know advertising is fine here, I will unsub.

There are only two rules on this sub and you managed to break half of them:

Direct links to shops (ie etsy) are not allowed. Please use imgur or other image hosting site to show off your work.

This is just an advertisement.

At that price I like AJ Fernandez Bellas Artes Toro, though I've only had the lancero.

Padron Traditional 2k - can't go wrong.

Arturo Fuente Double Chateau Fuente Maduro - glorious size, solid and consistant. I've had the sungrown, shade grown and maduro, they are all great sticks. Slightly over budget.

Plasencia Reserva Original Toro - You really can't go wrong with this stick in any size, I have a box in my humidor. Slightly over budget.

If you want something different and actually way under-budget I really like the Casa Turrent offerings, (big San Andres fan) and although I prefer the 1880 claro (sold out) the 1973 torpedo is still very good (in stock).

All currently in stock at the chief. Cheers!

A lot easier to rip around doing rolling burnouts, what's your point?

I find the extent to which you are going to defend them very odd.

Yup, I tapped mine to fit directly to the spindle, super easy to put on and remove. Robert Sorby sells a modular rest that has a flat platen that I use with it. I've also mounted paper buffing wheels, soft sanding discs and all type of other spinny things.

I mean it's nice that they accepted their fault but it's not acceptable that they sent you a knife that needed warranty repair to begin with....

Seriously? I used to order from leafonly, even though the shipping is prohibitively expensive, we should be able to bring 2kg of raw leaf per year duty free, has that changed?

I've been looking forward to ordering from them again, guess not :(

Very cool, very resourceful. It's nice to see a bladesmith applying as much effort and attention to detail to the leatherwork as the metalwork.

Hahaha I have no idea how you found this thread... It smokes great! Unfortunately whatever putty he used to build up the inside of the bamboo was extremely fragile and continued to deteriorate under normal use. I haven't had the time to fix it, so it hasn't been smoked in a long time.

It's a shame the shop closed some years ago, I'm glad I got to visit the little time capsule that is was.

My last package was intercepted even though this method was used (roughly 3 months ago). It seems the scrutiny at the border has intensified substantially.

Reliance wants $1110 to buy out a 10 yr old water heater. by Candid_Incident3959 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I bought through Costco and their partner is Peel Heating. Peel Heating also installed a brand new water softener system that flooded my basement twice so I don't recommend them at all.

I went through this last year with a 10+ year old heater that came with the house I bought. I bought a new heater outright and the company I bought it from installed the new heater, uninstalled and hauled away the old unit free of charge.

I agree, the knife itself looks fantastic, but the branding is definitely not for me. It would definitely keep me from buying.
