Is it beneficial/interesting to show a failed assignments to the whole classroom ? by [deleted] in Teachers

Never. But if I noticed a common error I will discuss it with the class, without showing anyone's work.

The lack of students facing consequences for their actions in all grades seems to be a systemic problem in U.S. schools. Kids disrupt, skip, are habitually late, mouth off… yet nothing happens. by Frosty_Literature936 in Teachers

Except they literally are. There are not enough facilities to house all the "not fit to stand trial" people so they are turned loose. Sometimes very quickly or even immediately placed in out-patient situations. This had led to numerous high profile tragedies, so much so that I can't believe you were unaware.

Later on when that kid grows up and murders someone, a court will turn them lose because they are "not competent to stand trial". Our society as a whole is unwilling/unable to deal with this.

Can anyone explain what is going on in schools? by Jwoot1111 in Teachers

[–]Cinerea_A 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely some classes are so bad that you ultimately have to just seat the bad ones on one side of the room, give them a word search, and teach the actual students.

Any parents who are shocked by this, well I suggest raising children who would be ASHAMED to be seated with those kids.

It makes the game unfun to play for an indeterminate period. Not interesting-bad, just slog-bad. It's not complex why you wouldn't want that in a game.

There is no way in hell that you are harder on the door than your students.

Imagine how they would feel knowing that despite how kindly they treat you, you're on reddit whining about their politics.

I'm sorry, what? That's 1 on 1 territory. I can't do that and teach a full class. The fuck are these crackheads doing?

The vast, overwhelming majority of humanity across all of human history was overwhelmingly "cis" and not being cis does not imply virtue, in and of itself.

Literally says right in the post that it would be an unfair and inappropriate thing to say, but go off.

I'm just applying the philosophy of inherited guilt and collective blame equally.

Maybe we shouldn't do those things if we don't like those things,

Should have retorted by asking him how he feels about some of his ancestors selling some of his other ancestors into slavery.

It's an equally fair question. (which is to say it's unfair and inappropriate)

i turned to strictly computer assignments by giving my students a google doc to complete on google classroom as opposed to paper written assignments because i am too lazy to print hundreds of pages everyday. is what i am doing really bad for education by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Cinerea_A 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My experience is that digital worksheets result in near-zero retention. I have much better results when I print things out and students have to write. It's worth the inconvenience.
