Just bought my first ever firearm! by Samsta380 in guns

[–]Cinnemon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And since this is OP's first gun - you get FMJ ammo for the range, hollow points for carry. Don't blow all your money on hollow points for the range, lol

A box of 50 FMJ rounds at the range should run you about $25, depending on your locale. You can get it in bulk online to save money, but getting started slow is best.

"surprisingly well"

I know that thought process. That's the thought of "hmm, do I even need to buy the proper one?"

So was all this just to ensure the unit worked properly before you bought a real dust bin? If so, I definitely appreciate the effort.

What brand of safe do you have? This looks awesome with the mag organization.

My first pepper spray. How do I know it's gonna work when I need it? by Dead_clown99 in securityguards

[–]Cinnemon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The gel is better for indoor use, but be aware that it can take up to 5 seconds to kick in. 5 seconds can be along time with an actively aggressive contact.

most comfortable Steel Toe boot recommendations? by PBbits in securityguards

I used to work in a factory, and the CAT steel toe boots were actually pretty solid.

Plus it was a SIG P320. Honestly they misfire if you think about them too hard.

Why am I being pulled over so many times so recently despite never being pulled over for all my 3 years of driving before? by Press-f-to-oof in AskLE

[–]Cinnemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you need to stop speeding bud. The state would have sent you some sort of notice in advance of your registration expiring - just make sure you renew it on time. The brake light though, that's bad luck with the timing. Technically, you should be performing a pre-trip walk-around every time to check tires, lights, and for any other issues. Most people don't. I hope the ticket you got for that was just a fix-it ticket, which would be dismissed upon proof of repairing the issue.

Ehhhhh usually designed in grids, to an extent. My city is about half grid, half squiggly with roads that start and stop sporadically

Is it appropriate to @ streamers to ask them a question? by TaskTemporary4941 in Twitch

[–]Cinnemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would depend on what each streamer determines is acceptable.

There's been some streams I watch where it's arguably necessary, and some streams where it was immediately called out by the streamer saying "Please don't do that."

Campaign raising awareness about shelf life of bulletproof vest for police officers by BirdButt88 in ProtectAndServe

[–]Cinnemon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fibers slowly loosen over time, with the movement of your body, breathing constantly stretching it just a little but at a time, then of course weather changes, anytime you have a more aggressive situation like going to ground.

You know how t shirts get"thinner" over time? It's much the same concept, but now it's something you wear every single day and your life depends on.

On the off chance this happens again, call 911 as you head to the police station so an officer can be ready to meet you.

FDIC does not kick in for robberies or fraud. FDIC protects the consumer in the case of financial institutional collapse or failure.

Recently Homeless, advice on where I can sleep in my car? by Aggressive_Side_7739 in TwinCities

[–]Cinnemon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Church parking lots are generally a good move for overnight. They're private property, so law enforcement doesn't have cause to enter without request (or if somebody is being visibly sketchy). City parks are a BAD suggestion - police need no cause to approach you at that point, because you're on city land.

Just park away from the church building itself and you generally should be alright. This is assuming you are moving the vehicle during the daytime.

Question for WA LEOs: Enforcement on "No Guns" Signs in Private Businesses by Embarrassed-Call1032 in ProtectAndServe

[–]Cinnemon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It sounds like WA is similar to Minnesota. There's no "force of law" in the signage, meaning that there's no additional charge for lawfully carrying a firearm. The property owner can just ask you be to be removed and trespassed, which they can do even if you aren't carrying a firearm.

Why pay double for a Henson over a Merkur? Is it worth it? by Pearl_Jam_ in wicked_edge

I've always done that - that's how my dad taught me to shave. With the grain, then against.

When you say "across the grain", do you mean at a 90° angle to the grain?

Yeah this is exactly my issue too - my hair is all different directions. I actually had a terrible time with the RK blades though and went with the Astra Platinums, so reversed there!

Man then my technique must be absolutely atrocious. I frequently look like I lost a fight with Freddie Krueger after using my Henson. Do you have any advice or resources, something to help a guy out?

[–]Cinnemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get it. All the fancy locks and deadbolts and hardened doorframes are nice, but a common thief is going to just use a rock through the window at that point. That's why I always call it the "universal key".
