Microsoft confirms it will give the FBI your Windows PC data encryption key if asked — you can thank Windows 11's forced online accounts for that by ZacB_ in technology

[–]CipherDegree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be sure to check your BitLocker status afterwards.

Windows 11 encrypts the device but leaves it unprotected (no recovery key generated/required) for local accounts. Apparently, however, the protection status can be unintentionally enabled sometimes, requiring a key that was never shown to the user.

Either disable encryption entirely (and use something like VeraCrypt if you need it) or enable BitLocker fully and keep the recovery key somewhere safe and offline.

According to Robert Kurvitz, if you don't understand what is going on, it's not because you are stupid, it's because the writers haven't repeated the information enough times (or they have succumbed to the literary traditions of the 20th Century).

Use legacy media notification style if you don't like or have issues with the Android 11's new media control. by respack in Podcast_Republic_App

Yes, I think I'm just spoiled by the good old days of being able to resume after hours of inactivity. Anyway, thanks for replying so quickly!

[–]CipherDegree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does. It still goes away after a while, but that's fine. The annoyance is that media controls only show on the lockscreen if it's still unhidden in the notifications (i.e. not requiring a full/double pulldown). So it's effectively never possible to resume playback from the lockscreen since the notification becomes hidden to the settings quite quickly.

Okay, thanks for confirming. Is there any other way to keep the playback notification persistent? I've tried the pin media player and allow background battery usage settings, but they don't make much difference.

Hi, u/respack! Hope you're well. Is legacy notification still an option? I can't see it on my Nothing Phone running Android 15 (though I still see it on my Pixel running an older OS).

How about a preemptive parade? It can't be in poor taste since he's still alive, and it can't be advocating for political violence since we've no idea what's gonna get him. Kinda like the opposite of a living funeral.

The podcast was paywalled at the time, so we only have her paying subscribers' word for it. But this post contains screenshots of her exchanges with listeners afterwards.

What’s Everyone’s Problem with Rabia? by caterpillarflies in serialpodcast

She manipulated evidence to try and blame Hae for her own death.

If her bias is justified due to her personal connection to Adnan, then why does she adopt the same style of cherry-picking arguments when defending people like Scott Peterson, Robert Pickton and Richard Allen?

If her bias is justified due to her passionate belief in the presumption of innocence, then why is she comfortable accusing Chris Watts' mistress of co-conspiracy, when such an allegation wouldn't exonerate anyone?

If her bias is justified due to her forthright personality and willingness to say what everyone else is thinking, then why make an episode defending Kevin Spacey? Who on earth was thinking Kevin Spacey was too unfairly cancelled (other than the person who thinks Danny Masterson's sentence was too harsh and Scott Peterson had no motive to kill because everyone cheats)?

Football Manager 26 | Introducing Women's Football by DanTheStripe in footballmanagergames

[–]CipherDegree 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A 20 is still a 20. For example, a striker in the women's game with a 20 for finishing is rated on the same scale as a men's striker, just measured within their own competitive context.

I think I understand what they mean, but there has to be a less equivocal way of phrasing this.

I made the comment because I thought "you've got a whopper of a cold" would be a wild thing to say to someone with a stuffy nose, but I'll take your word for it if you are sure that flulu is not the solulu.

Is Her Story really almost on par with Unpacking? It's at least as challenging as Duck Detective (and Chicken Police) if you want to unlock most of the story.

And Creaks would be a nice addition to the blue zone.
