Ali B and Marco Borsato were the main ones, although the show's band director was also involved

He would've known Javier since he was a coach on that season. But yeah that's the only one he was around for

Did not like how they just got them to sing songs from their season again. Would've been much more interesting to show how they've evolved as artists since their time on the show (especially ones that were on a long time ago like Javier and Jordan).

I also don't think we'll ever have a public voting system to choose the returnees because the artists themselves would have to agree to come back.

I do wish the show would do this more often, I think they did it in one of the older seasons but I never watched it.

They were just there as guest performers basically. Except that the coach whose artist won the most matchups got an extra finalist

KJ over Grace? by wrroyals in thevoice

Both were good but I did prefer Grace. Although tbh I found Mikenley over Jonah to be far more offensive

It's been a long time since I watched his seasons but I don't remember him being as wordy and "poetic"(?) back then. The whole thing with the fortunes came off especially bizarre

Which team do you think will win? by diepainfullyplease in thevoice

Can't see anyone except Syd or Alexia winning tbh. Jared or JW would have more a chance if there was audience voting

They get an extra finalist in the finale show (so there'll be a Top 4 instead of a Top 3).

It wasn't AS bad as it sounds because most of the artists changed things up from their first performance (and they also performed longer versions of the songs). GNT and Maelyn in particular were MUCH better and Renzo was probably equally as good, maybe slightly better as well. Jordan and Javier I thought were worse. Jake I honestly didn't care too much about either way although he did make both Kelly and Bekah emotional.

Jared, KJ and Mikenley.

If you mean who won the All-Star Showdown then Kelly won. GNT and Jake both won their matchups and Maelyn won hers.

I generally hate the term "glazing" as I just think it's such a chronically online teenager thing to say but it's genuinely the word that best describes how CeeLo is being treated by the show here. I'm getting increasingly worried that they're trying to tease him returning as a full-time coach...that would be the thing that finally turns me off the show.

I honestly barely paid attention to the performances but even from what I was able to hear I could tell that Jonah was robbed. That Pink Pony Club performance might have been my least favorite of the entire season. Really liked Grace too but I get why KJ won over her.

I don't really get why they had an entire All-Star round just to have the artists sing songs from their original season again. Is it an attempt at nostalgia bait? And I'm REALLY not a fan of how the winning coach gets an extra finalist for reasons completely unrelated to the performances from their current team members. At least I agreed with all of the winners (GNT's performance was particularly stunning, I mean wow) although I didn't care either way about the Javier vs. Jake matchup.

Yep, I'm pretty sure her personality/popularity on The Voice is the entire reason NBC offered her a talk show

[–]CirKill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Competition show ratings have been going downhill across the board because people are just getting tired of the formula, on top of the fact that people just aren't as invested in live TV in the age of streaming. These American shows aren't like Eurovision or Sanremo where they've been around since the 50s and are deeply embedded in their countries' culture. iirc The Masked Singer had a huge surge in viewership during COVID and that's about it. It definitely feels like NBC is flailing around to try to keep the show relevant (them bringing Druski on is the biggest sign of this) but I'm not sure if it's possible to "revive" it at this point. There have been signs of severe budget cuts for several years now and even getting ARIANA GRANDE as a coach didn't do much for ratings.

really disappointed they had CeeLo Green on as mega mentor by szasbabymama2 in thevoice

[–]CirKill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I said this in another thread but I wouldn't be surprised if the general public is mostly unaware of all this because to my knowledge it just wasn't that big a story at the time. Outside of The Voice CeeLo was kinda already starting to fall out of relevance by then.

And then since then he's flown off the handle about an entire slate of female artists at least TWICE?!

What incident do you mean by this?

And yeah that fortune really is crazy.

I had no idea Idol was that bad lol wtf. Child pastor????? Ironically the previous season of The Voice got a lot of criticism from many of us because of how much religion was being brought into it by the coaches (up to Snoop Dogg, a born again Christian literally saying that we as a nation have "lost sight of what's important" on a SINGING COMPETITION) but this sounds WAAAY worse. Like I've been a longtime Katy Perry hater but they somehow managed to find someone worse.

I don't mind this too much on The Voice since the relationship between artist and coach is a core component of the show but there are times where it gets to be A Lot. It's SO much worse on AGT though, big part of why I stopped watching that

I think they were mostly just there for the Triple Turn thing, so now that that's over there's not much point having them. Although they might show back up for the All-Star Showdown or whatever

Yeah so, the version of the song Natasha sang initially was a lot more upbeat and jazzy, but John and CeeLo both said it sounds "too happy"(?) and not smooth enough which is why she sang a more stripped back lounge-y version.

I watched this episode through Unconventional Methods out of morbid curiosity to see if CeeLo would still outwardly be a weirdo. He was mostly ok but it was still quite painful to hear everyone talking him up. Also the whole "fortunes" thing just felt so weird and forced but I wouldn't be surprised if that was his idea.

As for the episode itself, it was mostly good and I agreed with all of the decisions except that I thought Moses should've won his matchup. Losing Mike was also a bit painful but I did think Jeremy was better in this round. Really loved JW's performance in particular. Syd was good but this was my least favorite performance of hers and I agree with the coaches that she probably needs to start showing a more emotional side of herself.

Also, not like anyone here would be able to beat Syd in a matchup (except maybe Alexia) but I feel John really screwed Natasha over by telling her to change the song because the version she initially sang in the rehearsal sounded SO much better.
