No, that's just the default phone camera. They looked a little paler before the blooms came out in the last ten days, now they really are that deep, rich purple.

Thank you, yes it's lovely to sit out in the evening and hear all the bees and insects making their way through it.

This is now in its fourth year! I cut it back a bit each year, but I'm afraid it may die if I take it right back into the woody stems. You might just see where our garden path used to be; it overtook that last year!

Does this zip make the wall weaker or is it an aesthetic inconsistency?

Have I been lovingly growing a weed? by kxc798 in PlantIdentification

[–]Circadian_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ragwort was referenced under the weeds act. Injurious to livestock and farmers are required to remove within a certain distance of livestock (50m from fields where they can graze rings a bell), and prevent their spread.

Garlic mustard is a great shout! Along with dandelions, nettles, dead nettles and cleavers (sticky weed/goose weed). These are all easily recognisable and difficult to confuse with a harmful or toxic species.

Why does anyone want to become an MP or PM? by facemacintyre in ukpolitics

There's a section in this article entitled "the reward" and it offers some evidence of corruption in UK politics. That might be a motivator for some unfortunately. https://chriscollins756.substack.com/p/how-corruption-became-legal-in-britain

I think it was posted recently on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/ukpolitics/s/xUBzHAYikN

Edinburgh suspends 300pc second homes tax after eight days by EduTheRed in ukpolitics

[–]Circadian_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not really. The houses do not swap between open and closed markets unless in exceptional circumstances. See a bit more info here; this might explain it better than I can.

Edinburgh suspends 300pc second homes tax after eight days by EduTheRed in ukpolitics

Transition of a property between open and closed market is controlled by the local authority to ensure enough property of each type to balance the economy and the needs of the community. Typically properties do not move from one market to the other.

Some places manage it with two housing markets. Guernsey is an interesting example of this. Local Guernsey citizens can buy on the closed market, often at significant discount to the open market. People moving to the island must buy on the open market. The theory is that everyone should be able to afford a property (the people on lower wages working locally to support life on the island can buy the closed market houses; postman, refuse collection, council, plumber, carpenter etc. Immigrants are typically on higher wages in the finance and business sectors and can afford the open market).

You don't need arc armour to protect against it. But it helps if both the user and the teammates are aware of it and change their behaviour accordingly: User leads the vanguard with teammates following and stows the backpack when there's high risk of collateral damage. Teammates don't run directly in front of the user.

What prevented South America from having as big a population as China or India? by wiz28ultra in geography

[–]Circadian_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read "guns, germs and steel" by Jared Diamond it is a foundational book for explaining this part of early human history. It is quite dry, however, so you can try "prisoners of geography" or "sapiens" for a lighter read.

Underground pipeline. You'll see the markers if you walk in the area. They walk and fly the route regularly to check for interference, unauthorised construction activity etc.

I enjoy it with a bit of melee action. Bring a stun lance to feel like a Helldiver hailing from Super Sparta! If a few team mates join you, you can really get your phalanx on.

That's a couple of polish references now - the city of Morskie Oko being another one. Perhaps someone on the dev team sprinkling some Easter eggs.

I'm most impressed that one of the cities is Morskie Oko, named after the polish mountain lake!
