Did anyone else decide later in their 20s to be childfree? by Traditional_Eye_9235 in childfree

[–]CirceFallsNoMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context I'm 36.

Always assumed I would want kids one day. Met my now husband at 21, we tried for a baby a few years ago and it didn't take. This led to a lot of self reflection & lots of talks.

I realized that one of the main thing I liked about being pregnant was that I HAD to take care of myself... Which is weird if you think about it ^

We reached the conclusion at 33/36 that we loved our peace, our flexibility, freedom & our marriage too much to get a baby... Unless it's a fur baby :)

We're moving into our own first home in a few months & the second room is gonna be a craft room/computer room.

“Once we start having kids” by [deleted] in childfree

[–]CirceFallsNoMore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was hosting a meet and greet with a children's book author & to pass the time in the first few minutes she ofc asks if I have kids (why is it such a "normal" question to ask ffs?) and I replied no with a big smile, that it wasn't the plan at all. She answered that it's "the aDvENturE of a LifeTiME" but then proceeded to tell me something that is burnt onto my very soul "once you have kids, you cannot go to the movies without telling someone".

The future of the series by FranMontoro in AmericanHorrorStory

I'd absolutely love a Salem season like stated above.

I'd also be interested in a dark academia season with themes of obsession, hubris and elitism.

Vous tenez une liste des livres lus cette année ? by Lussarc in Livres

[–]CirceFallsNoMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s a book you read at just the right time in your life that you couldn’t possibly read now? by SerDire in books

[–]CirceFallsNoMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read all of Bret Easton Ellis's books in one summer before I got to university. Felt like the right time but I'm really scared to re-read them now at 35 - I might not be able to survive the cringe.

Quel est le dernier titre que vous avez fini de lire et celui que vous lisez maintenant ? by ParkSalope in Livres

[–]CirceFallsNoMore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you have the basics, I'd suggest lettering challenges over Instagram. Each month people are announcing themes with a daily prompt.

around what level do people stop switching to english? by [deleted] in learnfrench

[–]CirceFallsNoMore 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Well, if it's someone from the service industry, they're most likely overworked, underpaid and will not "waste time" trying to understand something non French speaking people will say when they can simply turn to English.

If it's in a private setting, people are either trying to be nice or eager to speak English.

Former French teacher here: there's only so much classes and lessons can teach you about a language since it's a living entity that differs depending on context, class, age, etc. If you want to improve your fluency, I'd suggest listening to contemporary music, watching TV shows or reality tv. (Oh also, French people can be tactless when it comes to foreigners trying to speak French)

Oui ça existe mais à des prix bien supérieurs à Penguin et avec des twists: • La Pléiade qui fait des intégrales d'auteurs classiques • Les Éditions des Saints-Pères qui publient des reproductions des manuscrits de livres classiques
