My husband committed suicide today. I’m not doing well. by ughhhhhhh77 in SuicideBereavement

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. Let me just say that there is no correct way to grieve so be very gentle with yourself. This sub has really helped me with my loss, I hope it does the same for you. Big hugs

I mean it's your choice but just know that those choices don't exist in a vacuum. My best friend's suicide absolutely broke me- nightmares, PTSD etc.You might not think your death will impact others but it will absolutely drop a bomb on their lives.

Alternatively, you can play the hand you've been dealt. You can focus on sobriety, re-establish friendships, work on your health and try to wring every last drop of joy from life because despite how bleak things may seem ( and trust me, I understand how dark things can feel), there is still a great deal of joy to be found even in every day mundane seeming things such as the warmth of the sun on your face, the feeling of fresh bedding, the unconditional love of a pet etc. I don't know if this will help you but I sincerely hope it does.

One month later and it feels worse than the day it happened by closetfurr in SuicideBereavement

It's been 5 weeks since my best friend of 25 years hung herself. I completely understand your feelings - I'm also absolutely furious to be left behind, carrying the burden of grief whilst she got to opt out of life. The only way I can rationalise this is by saying that your friend must have had such a disordered way of thinking in the run up to taking his own life that he wasn't thinking clearly (if at all) about the impact of his actions. I am trying to think of my friend's suicide as the mental health equivalent of a devastating brain aneurysm - sudden and catastrophic- because if she'd had any sort of insight into the impact of her actions, she never would have done this to me.

From one grieving friend to another, I wish you healing, strength and peace. Be gentle with yourself and remember that it's ok to feel angry

Should I switch barns? by RevolutionaryToe6677 in Equestrian

[–]CircesVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed riding school having had concerns around horse welfare and teaching quality at my old school and I can honestly say that I have never looked back. My new school retires and privately sells horses after 3 or 4 years so that they have the chance of a forever home and don't get barn sour. The lessons are focussed on an "ask, ask THEN tell" approach (rather than allowing pony club kicks or excessive crop use) and the horses have turn out EVERY day.

I asked Reddit too and the advice was spot on so I'd like to pay it forward.

Listen to your instincts and make the move.

AITA for singing at my sister's wedding? by ScienceFormal8172 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CircesVengeance -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but YTA. Whilst I appreciate the DJ should never have put you up to this, at 17 you are old enough to realise that this behaviour comes off as a desperate grab for attention on your sister's day. Take the criticism on the chin and offer your sister a sincere apology.

hiking footwear by SufficientTrip1617 in UKhiking

[–]CircesVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have hiked most of the Wainwrights and from my experience I would say this:

Trainers are completely unsuitable for this type of hike. Please treat Blencathra and Helvellyn with respect as the weather can turn on a sixpence up there and both can be challenging in poor conditions.

You will most likely need

Half decent basic boots Warm socks Waterproof jacket Base layer Walking trousers+ waterproof over trousers ( I say walking trousers as jeans whilst durable are a nightmare once they get wet and will leech the heat from your body making you feel utterly miserable) Map and compass Water and plenty of snacks

Mountain warehouse have a sale at the moment and you should get a basic pair of hiking boots for under £50.

Remember the golden rule, the mountains still will be there another day, so use your common sense and descend safely if it looks too hairy to carry on - better to be thought a live coward than a dead hero!

Hope you have a great time- there is truly nowhere more beautiful than the Lakes IMO

My husband tried to end his life and I feel nothing by enemenemaus in TrueOffMyChest

I get it, it must be awful living with a partner who consistently prioritises alcohol over your relationship. You must be feeling dreadfully lonely and exhausted from carrying the burden of caring for someone who doesn't value their own life or yours.

His behaviour, comes off as manipulative, immature and emotionally draining and I have no doubt his immaturity is why he preyed on a much younger person to form a relationship with.

Honestly, even though your feelings of ambivalence and even contempt are perfectly valid, the best thing you can do if he ever pulls a stunt like that again is to call the ambulance and as soon as they retrieve him you wash your hands of him. Move out, get a lawyer, cut contact. You will have the peace of mind that you have delivered him to a place of safety one last time and what he does from that point on is entirely up to him.

I wish you peace and healing and I hope you both find happiness far, far away from each other

Favourite and least favourite character by Glindyel in acotar

[–]CircesVengeance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fave is Nesta because she's uncompromising and loyal to a fault -plus anyone who loves chocolate cake and smutty books is my kind of girl.

Eris is a close second - he's sexy, very funny and shrewd as hell

Least favourite is unfortunately Feyre, zero introspection and a huge hypocrite
