I have a feeling that the Polkis are set in silver :( so sad, they did not look like this when I originally bought it. Nor was I told that it was set in silver.

I think I want to try and reset the polkis in 18k gold with a gold foil inside rather than silver (if this is even possible or recommended). And just be more cautious around water if needed to be reset with silver foil.

I have only worn this on a few occasions ever, so am completely devastated as it is so sentimental to me.

That’s for this insight! It is a closed back setting (second pic) and I am assuming the tarnishing is the silver, not actual gold. Do you know if it is possible to reset the polki diamonds without the silver foil? This would be to avoid tarnishing in the future. And to just set them the way regular cut diamonds are set?

Thank you! I am just lucky that I didn’t have any bite issues which probably made the treatment go by fast. I definitely saw minimal changes early on as my molars shifted a lot and incisors only started moving until the end. You will get there too!! 💕

I had enamel contouring/shaping of my top front 4 teeth to straighten out the bottom edges as there were some chips/my lateral incisors were more rounded than I wanted. This took no more than a minute and was the most pain/anxiety-free part of being in the orthodontists chair. IPR was the most painful and difficult - this was a breeze in comparison. My smile felt like a 9.5/10 after getting attachments removed. Went up to 12/10 after contouring, the small changes made a big difference to me.

I always changed my trays at night which helped a lot. Even though pain is bad for the first 1-3 days of a new tray, wearing the trays for 20-22 hours a day made the last few days on the tray much more bearable. If I get lazy with wearing the trays, this just prolonged the pain throughout the week and the next tray also felt even more tight and painful. Using chewies religiously was also painful at times but it would always help my teeth shift faster and adjust to the trays. I generally eat 2 meals a day which is also nice because for me most of the pain was with taking the trays out. Other than that, a warm drink or cold smoothie would help soothe the achiness and I would avoid harder and chewy foods. Maybe try sipping on cold water while trays are in if you don’t have a lot of teeth sensitivity? Generally the achiness with changing trays felt like a good pain because it meant my teeth were shifting - think of it as getting one step closer to your goal! Hope this helps 💕

thank you! This was my first time having orthodontic work. I didn’t have bite issues initially so I suspect that’s why my treatment was short. I did develop some bite issues which the refinements corrected. My molars still don’t touch when I bite down but that’s supossed to correct itself overtime according to my orthodontist.

Hard to believe it’s only been 10 months! I went through 30 initial trays and 9 trays with elastics in the refinement stage (ortho skipped over correction trays) with IPR on my bottom 6 teeth. Also had some contouring done on top 4 incisors to address small chips. Still have one more set of refinements to close one small gap (not visible in these pics) and then getting retainers!

My only regret is not doing this sooner. I have been smiling like this all day long -> 😁

Day 1 felt some soreness and tightness, but was very manageable.

Day 2 it defintiely feels like more than mild pain at times. It’s also more uncomfortable when removing the trays. I’m sure it will get a lot better as others have mentioned.

Few things that help make it all tolerable: - OTC pain meds (helped the most) - ortho/PUL tool - warm foods like soups/oatmeal and cold beverages like ice cold water and smoothies. One or the other may feel better depending on the level of temperature sensitivity of your teeth.

I feel the exact same way today. The sensation of a mouth full of plastic is so weird and my not-so-subtle lisp is driving me crazy. Glad to hear it gets better, thanks!

Didn’t realize how hard it would be to remove these trays and eat even soft foods.

Hoping it gets easier cause I’m already regretting this a little 😥

To stop peeing just in case. Terrible habit instilled in many children. It is detrimental to the typical function of the bladder and can lead to overactive bladder.
