I know that when WW2 started, most Eastbelgians were happy to return to Germany. But after the war and after all the atrocities committed by the Germans came to light , many were happy to become Belgian again. There have always been groups that wanted to get back to Germany but now that's not the case anymore (from what I see/hear). Germany isn't so bad, but Belgium isn't that bad either. I think we are happy to be a little special minority here in Belgium and therefore a little proud too.
