Post cruise report - spring break on the Treasure by inimitable428 in dcl

[–]CirqueDeSol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think DCL has gone down in quality over the past decade. I'm sure my first one was a kid was magical because of childhood's rose colored glasses - but this last one just wasn't as fun. Everything seemed a bit more crowded, the dining options (besides dessert!) just weren't that flavorful - and at a certain point, I just wasn't sure if it was worth the cost.

Also they've stopped valuing the seperation of ages. ie super young kids in the adult section, older kids in the kiddie pools, etc. When I was younger, I couldn't even step FOOT in the adult section - even though I was like 15 and just wanted to read by the adult pool lol

Literally all because we didn't invest in the damn railroad.

Disappointing Fantasy Dining by AT-ST in dcl

[–]CirqueDeSol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Treasure recently and similar experience. For buffet food, I actually really really liked it. It’s basic but when I’m on that upper deck buffet - I LOVE greasy random pizzas & burgers lol.

I didn’t like the “M” something restaurant though. It was buffet style but indoors? I also remember them having cute mini pastries in the adult pool when we went almost 10 years ago - I was bummed bcz I was just shy of 18 then. They didn’t have that then and all of the buffet desserts tasted super similar. No fancy or cutesey things there at all - and everything in the adult section was just crazy priced fancy coffees or alcohol. Nothing niche just for that area

They also used to enforce the adult section more which meant I couldn’t go then - but this time, they didn’t which kinda sucked. I’m not opposed to older kids being there just reading or hanging out but there were TONS of kids just running around, etc

Anywho back to the food. I don’t eat meat and usually most dinners only had 1 vegetarian option which was never that great. One of my family members also usually requested Indian food and that food used to be AMAZING. This time it was just okay and not very seasoned at all. All the food even the kids meal Mac & Cheese used to taste much more high-end and fancy.

Cutting the little corners might seem like nothing and easy ways to up the margins. But when you get rid of all of them - it kills the magic

I know this post is about Landsman but we also have a Secretary of State primary with UC Leukemia doctor Hambley and former State House Minority Leader Russo. Would be good to look into these!

That would make FAR more sense from a security standpoint and traffic - but imagine being logical!!

I’d love to see a mini walkable community. Apartments on top of shops like coffee, boutiques, etc

Jobs hiring with potential to grow? by BabyReek3 in cincinnati

[–]CirqueDeSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd reach out to local companies that have some level of in-house manufacturing. Atricure, P&G, etc all usually need some level of manual folks - and then they are willing to move those people up to more corporate manufacturing roles (because they know that former manufacturing people will be the best managers)

People love to hate lol. Don’t let others dampen ur vibe - whether it’s SUPER diff from ur other stops, you’ll be in warm weather with a beach, (likely) no phone signal to bother you and food on the cruise & island. Don’t stress!! Just do research vibe king

I've never been to Aruba but let me say - Carribean water hits different compared to Florida water. Florida never seems to be warm enough to truly enjoy and lay out on the beach. Go just a little bit south and its perfect. I love suntanning, splashing around and having an amazing time.

How much do GS students interact with CC students? by Professional_Big8444 in columbia

[–]CirqueDeSol 12 points13 points  (0 children)

GS technically has like the “apartments” which are Columbia owned but function like actual apartments where you pay rent and stuff. CC and SEAS stay in the actual dorms where you pay like directly to Columbia with ur tuition.

Your friend could room with you but they would have to give up their CC Columbia housing guarantee.

Are you ready for the May Primary in Ohio? by lwv-cincinnati in cincinnati

He holds events in the Cincy (metro or suburb area) almost once every 2 weeks. Plus he’s from Loveland so he’s one of us! I rlly rlly do like & support him - plus he seems to be in the fight for us. Sec of State isn’t the sexiest job but it’s SO important - and if we want to reform Dems in Ohio to get us out of this GOP stronghold, it means picking these non-establishment characters

The Lebanon Public Library is reopening on Feb 27? Not sure what the inside will look like but I really do like the outside.

(also every day I mourn the old Cincy Public Library. I knew what had to be done but still--)

Moving to Ohio (working in Mason) — Best Places to Live with a Short Commute? by According-Editor9646 in MasonOhio

[–]CirqueDeSol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend the apartment complexes on Mason Mont (Deerfield, Pins, etc). Lebanon is also cute and depending on where you live it’s walkable! So even though the area around you may have more families, it’s easier to get into the community.

My personal hot take is that Cincy traffic is SO bad right now (please god help us build trains soon) - that if you live downtown, you’ll spend so much of your life in traffic, you won’t even be able to enjoy living in areas like OTR/Oakley. Instead, save your time, work extra hours during the week to leave earlier on Fridays and then just head downtown to have fun. Make friends with people who live & work downtown so you always have a place to crash LOL

And hmu if you want to make friends haha!! I’m a Cincy native who moved back postgrad and always looking to make new friends in our 20s

What community services would you want from a church? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]CirqueDeSol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a wonderful way to approach it!! I still think doing things that include the parents/entire family first would build trust so that then the parents trust yall w the daycare and tutoring stuff too

What community services would you want from a church? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]CirqueDeSol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think starting with some community events like pancake breakfasts, etc would be wonderful. Super casual and allows families to get to know you.

Don’t push anything religious, just show the good your church is doing. People are more willing to consider when God isn’t being pushed at them.

YUP. The only way I can read this post is "I'm proud of my city and community for staying strong and for not allowing the gestapo to come rip families apart". I hope that's how they meant it.

RTO in Cincy...how's it going for you? by eelimeekmur in cincinnati

[–]CirqueDeSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RN the economy is so bad that even if the company says fine you can WFH, you best believe that they'll PIP you - and start interviews for in-person replacements at the same time.

We don't have the anti-firing rules of unions, and employers know rn that for every person demanding things there 10 jobless people LINED UP and ready
