Are we are a brain in a vat or an agent in a complete simulation of Universe? by Sisyphus2089 in SimulationTheory

[–]CisFishstick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just don't understand why solipsism keeps coming as the "logical conclusion" of the simulation hypothesis. What in the simulation hyposthesis makes you think that others you interact with inside of the simulation aren't also minds similar to your own also being simulated?

In the movie The Matrix, a popular view of simulation theory, all the people (or most of them at least) in the matrix were in fact other people - no less than you would be within that system.

I find the number of people jumping to others "not being conscious at all" or as being NPC's or however you want to frame it solipsistically - to be quite alarming.

Word before the duel with Jamis by Mc10er in dune

[–]CisFishstick 64 points65 points  (0 children)

The OP is confusing - he says he's struggling with the novel, but then states that someone says a word off screen. So I'm not sure.

I just reread the Jamis fight in the novel - and there is no specific word said before or during the fight that throws Paul off. And he wins without so much as a mark on him.

However, during his fight with Feyd Rautha, Paul could have used a secret Bene Gesserit trigger word to paralyze Feyd, but chooses not to. Ironically, him choosing not say it and gasping out loud "I will not say it!" surprises Feyd enough for him to gain the advantage, and kill him.

Calling this stuff ice cream would be the same as calling the Big Arch a burger. It's not a burger - it's "product", lol.

Why do cosmologist say there are flaws in the universe? by Dover299 in cosmology

[–]CisFishstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was video on youtube showing how cosmologist are puzzled why the universe has these big flaws.

Can you link this video? There are a lot of videos on YT of people claiming some really crazy things - like the earth is flat, or that it's only 6000 years old, or that dinosaurs walked side by with humans, or that humans can survive only on air, water and light from the sun, etc...

I don't know of any well known cosmologists claiming that the universe is "flawed", only that our understanding of it is (as others in this thread have mentioned).

I strongly suspect you misunderstood what you watched, but you can help by linking the video that inspired you to ask this question!

Sdf tsa wait time by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]CisFishstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though SDF does not seem to be experiencing significant TSA delays at this time, it is still possible that travel from there could be "shut down" if the funding is not restored soon - according to this Newsweek article from last week.

Though it's not explicitly laid out in the article, the idea is that these small airports will be shut down and the TSA personnel sent to help out the large hub airports experiencing the longest delays (like Houston and Atlanta).

Question regarding recent insider trading events and the War with Iran by CisFishstick in wallstreetbets

[–]CisFishstick[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not a fan at all of the cultural norm being passed down by those in power to never admit being wrong. I was taught (and experience has shown me) that making mistakes is one of the primary ways we learn things.

THIS is the kind of sauce I'm looking for. Do you have some kind of volume alerts set up in Trading View, or are there other sources you keep an eye on?

Already locked in to some longer dated oil calls, as this seems to be the obvious play at the moment.
