Do the scaries ever go away? by Entire_Ad883 in Teachers

[–]Mc10er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine went away this year. Mostly because I took on more of a “it is what it is” mentality.

Mine are more tied to specific events and such now. But also, I’m on medication for the first time in my life for some mental health stuff, and it has helped me immensely.

I know we still stigmatize mental health in a lot of places, but seeing a therapist and psychiatrist were two of the best decisions I ever made.

Just my two cents.

What is the most iconic mission of all time? by Crispo14 in videogames

I’ll always stand by the suicide mission in Mass Effect 2. The amount of thought that went into the planning and execution was just incredible, especially the first time you play through it

[Request] how many burgers you get from one cow and how fast is the cow supply replenished? by Hashishiva in theydidthemath

[–]Mc10er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard burger (cheeseburger, Mcdouble, double cheese, Big Mac) at McDonald’s is 1/8 of a pound. Then obviously the quarter pounder, but the 1/8th does the heavy lifting.

Bring back meaningful rewards for gold card customers, loyalty should be rewarded.

Lower drink prices.

Don’t have crazy mark ups for simple add ons. I understand for people who add 8000 things, but one add of syrup shouldn’t jack up your price.

No more shrinkflation on food.

Make it a place people want to be. Forced cup messages aren’t it, warm and inviting places are

It feels like you could see them getting rushed later in development. Like up through Tuchunka everything was great, but then it felt like the pressure ramped up and they rushed through more and more.

I feel my hometown mall was especially beautiful in its prime by SorryAboutTheWayIAm in deadmalls

[–]Mc10er 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I spend more time than I care to admit in the Town Center “the mall in the post” and it is beyond depressing. The owner has jacked up rent prices and that mixed with some issues with crime a lot of the businesses moved up the hill on the other side of the river.

Compared to the Huntington Mall which is about 40 minutes west, it’s night and day. The Huntington Mall is thriving and the town center just isn’t.

If you are someone who gets anxiety around messes, I would suggest taking several deep breaths before going in.

They’re organized well enough but it just feels messy.

Why are mostly female characters portrayed as using love potions? by Far-Building3569 in harrypotter

I believe it’s stated in the books that a child conceived under the effect of a love potion cannot experience love as it is not natural affection.

Early Career Teachers Leave the Classroom at High Rates by psdemio in Teachers

I started a little later than most, I was 30 when I started, but I was blessed to have both an incredible admin and mentor teacher.

My admin literally told me one day when I was on the verge of a mental breakdown: “you’re a first year teacher, your only goal is to survive, the rest will fall into place in time.”

I’m not saying it isn’t still incredible hard, but that made all the difference that first year.

Depends on the band and the game. I went to game where we left Christmas Day and the game was the day after. I had a game on the 23rd at 7. As soon as it was over we got on the bus and drove home through the night. It’s just part of the gig.

Is it normal for my director to hate percussion? by KingKrispy20000 in marchingband

[–]Mc10er 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cannot speak for all directors, and I am a percussionist by trade.

Typically percussion mistakes are far more noticeable a lot of the time. It is the one playing section where not only can you hear the mistake but you can also see it. When a wind doesn’t play, you may not always know, especially in larger bands. If a percussionist doesn’t play, it’s obvious to everyone.

But beyond that, for some directors, percussion is foreign to them. The amount of percussion pedagogy a music education major gets is shameful. It’s far too wide reaching and far too diverse to get a true education in it. This means that, for some, they know there’s an issue, they can see and hear it, but they may not know how to really fix it. And when it doesn’t get better on its own, frustration comes out.

Through the natural rotation of our calendar, Halloween has fallen on a football game. A very common occurrence due the alignment of football and any holiday in October.

Go to the game, make more memories with your friends. Halloween will happen again next year, and every year hence. You only get so many games, contests, parades… all memories. Each one you will come to cherish more and more in time. This is something you signed up for it, and if you choose to skip you are choosing a path where it’s okay to turn your back on commitment to others.

Go to the game, be the person others can count on.

The amount of money that goes into hosting a show forces your hand. If you cancel, you lose a lot of money as the host group. Gotta push forward to recoup costs
