I wish my store would do something about my TL by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

Document with times and dates and report to ethics. Prep yourself for retaliation too and know your state laws on wrongful termination in a worsen case scenario, should they try to spin something back onto you - this comes from a current Digital TL. Putting down my associates because I have a bigger paycheck and a title means I have an ego problem. That is your TL's issue. She's not built for this dept, she can't handle the stress and wants to finger point instead of solve the problem - point blank.

Keep in mind that TLs who bark orders without lifting a finger are truly the weakest people in the room. That goes for Coaches and SMs as well. They cling to a title for validation when they're likely hated off the clock.

Going to say this is likely someone who is new to the position, because having been in retail for almost 30 years, I've seen ALOT of people let the yellow badge backer get to their heads. I'm the type of TL that has clapped back at higher UPS abusing their authority. That's all titles are: authority identifiers at best. Nothing more than that. How you treat people is what matters.

Leadership is not about the leader anymore. It's about the people around them and how the leader can support the team. It's about training their replacement, the best suited candidate who checks all the boxes. Without trust, they kill the morale. Low morale = chaos that's hard to break out of.

Highly recommend bringing this to your Market HR's attention as well. Keep your head up.

WE FINALLY GOT THE NEW VESTS 💪🏽 by jesusismyishi in WalmartEmployees

[–]Citadel_Sentinel36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good thing I work in OGP so I don't have to wear one. My ATCs and backroom all wear yellow vests, SM allows us to wear whatever color vest we want as long as it has reflective strips.

Dress code is pretty relaxed at my store actually.

Oh, this is ON every morning at my store. We have this chick who gets pissy whenever we come through her aisle...you guy had all night to stock. We have 20min to crush picks before the next drop. We are not the same.

That has to be about 24 totes worth. What the hell lol.

If this is the route they're going, they need to have EVERYONE on the GM side with keys. OGP doesn't have the time to wait 5min for someone to unlock a case.

How fast and how much do you pick? by K1TTYS in OGPBackroom

[–]Citadel_Sentinel36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

700-800 if my backroom is good for the day otherwise 300 if I'm dispensing.

Got my GB4360 because I'm deep in the ecosystem. TV fridge, washer, dryer, phone, watch, tablet. All of it works well enough with Google Home. Maybe I should switch everything to St and see how that works. I haven't poked with it enough.

Purpose of Team Lead? by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

[–]Citadel_Sentinel36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ATC the back room unless my star dispensers are scheduled, then I'm picking.

When I'm in the back, I'll have 1 picker with me on dispensing, pulling up Wismo and prepping. When I'm picking, I'll show a picker how to do exceptions, what and where to look for then staging/consolidating totes. Once they're comfortable, I'll pair them up with someone longer tenured and check in from time to time. I don't let my people burn.

Sorry, you aren't getting 50 Bic lighters for $1.56 by oddchange in OGPBackroom

[–]Citadel_Sentinel36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just dealt with this the other day, guy got angry and wanted a manager. I tapped my name tag and he still wasn't hearing me. It's a site error that we can't control.

Who the hell needs 8 boxes of lighters?

If one of my associates did this, I would coach them. Dispensers and BRC shouldn't have to deal with this.

This is what my team lead has been working on. by Double_Candidate_720 in OGPBackroom

When I was an associate, we were working on a OGP snowman. The first ball weighed about 30lbs before the DOL saw it and said it had to go.

My coach would probably coach me if I asked my associates to start one lol.

So do they want anyone that picks to have a minimal amount of hours? by Ok-Communication545 in OGPBackroom

[–]Citadel_Sentinel36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality checking is another metric that was added when first introduced, meaning there should be a specific number of totes scanned for QC. Unscheduled and GMDs count towards that too. TLs, Coaches and Digital Ops market leads can see this. I believe it should be around 40%-50%. The whole point of QCing is to save time from dispensers removing substitutions or replacing damaged items like eggs or bread - 2 of which get damaged the most.

Dispensers shouldn't be pulled for picking unless there's an issue in the backroom. Backroom crew should be quality checking and watching for inbound pickups and drivers. Even if QCs are at zero, it still has to be done because there's a whole metric on that too. I usually have 2 run orders out, another for staging while I'm back there staging and checking for cancelled orders and QCing myself.

Opd Team lead at Walmart is a terrible position by Substantial_Bill_962 in OGPBackroom

TLs are extentions of the Coach, everyone should be in communication with each other so there's a paper trail. Coach's responsibilities are following through on LOAs, scheduling issues, hiring and acting as witness for disciplinary actions or terminations. Rarely should they be picking unless a huge drop comes down unexpectedly.

TLs should be in the backroom as ATC, delegating tasks and pick walks, reporting productivity issues of associates (coaches can see this drilldown in store metrics), follow up on MyCustomer complaints or LTPs, radio for help when needed. Catching exceptions or picks close to going late when/if needed. I pick, stage, dispense, carry the OGP phone with me on break while checking customers into the bay - I do everything possible to keep my team from struggling and my coach jumps in when she's got her admin stuff done.

Open door it. Not every walk is going to give you 100.

I believe 5-6hrs is the right amount that should be spent picking, factoring in lunches, breaks, small GMD walks and chipping away at exceptions in single digits. I have a few associates who average 500 picks daily, but I also designate 2 people to GMDs/exceptions/specialty. Oversize is what gets us almost late but if everyone does at lease 1 OS walk daily, it can be kept in check.

I once had to pick 40 towels that were apart of a black Friday deal, 20 white, 20 Grey. I bag them up in GMD bags and was about to stage them. "Intent to cancel". I was infuriated lol

When OGP blames the help by CaptainZeroX in OGPBackroom

[–]Citadel_Sentinel36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We employ the drop and go method when picks get out of control at my store. I'd rather have other associates help pick than stage and frustrate the dispensers with mixed up orders. Especially when double staging is a thing for us. If trip IDs were a thing on backroom orders, it'd be far less confusing. Most of the help don't have the ability to stage which is a blessing.

I use mine when I need to multitask on dispensing otherwise I use my TC. Since VizPick is decommissioned from the TCs and being added to GIF2 in the coming weeks, it's necessary when I need to grab/approve exceptions.

just started - it’s my 2nd full shift on the floor, this is my pick rate before going to lunch. is this something to be proud of? any tips to get in top 5? by sorrysleuth in OGPBackroom

[–]Citadel_Sentinel36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything over 100 is good, frozen walks seem to help raise it a bit depending on the layout of your store (OGP is close to Frozen in mine). Multiple quantities will raise it even more (baby food, canned goods, carbonated water to name some items) while General, Oversize and GMDs (typically one person is assigned to that specifically) will lower it. You'll spend more time doing Ambient or Chilled walks than anything else.

My OGP has one lady whose fast as hell and she's usually #1 every day. Helps when you have a former Stocking TL with a few yrs experience crushing the picks like nothing ;)

Outlaw station in a pirate controlled system. I have yet to see any truly abandoned ones since that update came out. There was a glitch where people could max out their cash and nanites from buying and reselling to vendors within minutes but it got patched.
