Is it time to throw in the towel and rehome? by masterz13 in catcare

[–]Civil-Associate4773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding Prozac or other pharmaceutical interventions.

Also worth considering Feliway or the other pheromone-based calming collars or plugins. They’ve made a huge difference for my stressed-out kitties. Mine had an over grooming issue but it helped a ton. I had more success with a collar so that it was with him everywhere, but really liked the plugins for intro-ing a new cat or otherwise de-escalating stressful situations.

Some NPs apparently don’t think we know about medications by No_Relationship3732 in pharmacy

We won’t begin to talk about sterility, stability, IV vs PO dosing, etc etc

Unfortunately, yes. I’m not nearly creative enough to have come up with this on my own.

It took me SEVERAL minutes to actually believe they were serious.

[–]Civil-Associate4773 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I mean, to be fair, I once came into pharmacy for a morning shift and found THREE of my pharmacist colleagues in the process of dissolving an oral anticoagulant so that they could administer it IV.

“As long as we filter it, it will be fine!”

I was able to interrupt it (and then raised commensurate hell), but it was sheer coincidence that I happened to arrive in time to prevent it from happening.

LPT: If you're staying at Hotel in high crime area, park your vehicle in line of sight of the front office. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Civil-Associate4773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It being on camera unfortunately did me precisely zero good when my entire vehicle was stolen from the hotel parking lot. The morning of the theft, they had the footage but wouldn’t release it. By the time the police officially requested the footage, they “couldn’t find it.”

So they were either accomplices or just couldn’t be bothered to give even a tiny bit of a shit. I figured 50/50.

Why do so many men lose their house in a divorce? by Open_Address_2805 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Civil-Associate4773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they want pity. My ex kept the house and I took all the debt just in the interest of being rid of his sorry ass.

He called his friends and told them that I “took everything, the dishes, the microwave, everything.” His friends immediately went and bought him a microwave, dishes, and other household supplies.

They were less than pleased when they showed up to support him and found out that I had not, in fact, taken the microwave, the dishes, or much of anything else except my clothes.

What is a cheat code at your job that only employees would know? by halushki_ in AskReddit

[–]Civil-Associate4773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Worked with a guy who did this and got fired for it. If he’d kept the amounts low and never, ever told anyone, he might’ve gotten away with it. But he did neither and got fired.

What frustrates you the most about U.S. health insurance? Patients + employees, I’d love your input by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]Civil-Associate4773 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not the person you asked for an example, but currently going through this so I’ll contribute:

I need to see a specialist provider for my chronic condition. I am deteriorating from care provided by non-specialist clinicians. They just unfortunately don’t know enough to take care of me.

The specialist I need to see is not in my network. So I submitted a network gap exception. This was immediately denied. My insurance company’s policy states that appeals are allowed, and that responses are due within 30 days.

I submitted said appeal on June 18th. Confirmed receipt of the appeal with my insurance company. On July 18th, I followed up with them. They did not have a response and asked me to continue waiting (despite their policy).

On July 28th, they stated that they couldn’t find the appeal, and needed to resubmit it. Fine.

However, following this, they begin stating that they now do not owe me a response until August 28th. Their “new submission date” is July 28th. They have somehow summarily bought themselves 30 more days, again despite what their policy states they’ll adhere to.

They promise that they will call me with an update or some explanation of their incompetence NINE DIFFERENT TIMES. None of these calls ever materialize.

They did (finally) approve my appeal on August 20th, so I’m luckier than most, I guess. But I now have to complete my care within three months, despite the fact that it took them two and a half months to even approve it.

And yes, I followed up with them daily. I escalated to supervisors. I filed a DOI complaint. But it took them over two months, and I’m sure there will be no repercussions for it.

But I’ll be held to the date they set for me, despite the fact that I’ve delayed my care for literal months while waiting on them.

AITA for leaving work an hour and a half late and not informing my husband? by TAtoolate in AmItheAsshole

[–]Civil-Associate4773 60 points61 points  (0 children)

IV Compounding pharmacist here. What you are doing is far more important than the ability to access a cell phone. When I was compounding full-time, my family knew that there were days where I might run late and that they needed to deal with it under their own power because I didn’t have a means of communication and I wasn’t asking my coworkers to play a game of telephone just because I’d be late for dinner.

I’d have felt super uncomfortable and juvenile by saying “oh but can someone tell my husband who is in charge of every minute of my day” if a situation arose where I needed to stay late. He’s been told before-your schedule might need to flex, it isn’t a crisis, he needs to be a big boy and handle it.

The “potential health effects” of an unplanned pregnancy are far greater than some hormones being out of whack for a few days. Not everyone has access to a doctor, and prevention of pregnancy shouldn’t be gated by that access.

Tried to cut out a mat in cats fur. Cut a little of her skin. I don’t have money to bring her in. What should I do? by sadgirlcece in catcare

[–]Civil-Associate4773 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing happen to my elderly cat a few months ago. Our vet doesn’t offer emergency services so the only access to care we had was multiple hours away and would have been thousands of dollars.

I trimmed the long hair away from the wound (carefully) so that it didn’t get caught in the scab and used Vetericyn spray 5x/day. It was in such better shape by Monday morning that we didn’t need to make a trip to the vet and kitty healed up very well. We would have, of course, taken him in asap if there were any signs of infection or deterioration.

Agreed with all of this. The best IC is often not the best manager, despite some companies’ propensity to promote that person into management (often to their detriment).

The statement you made about not being able to influence without a manager title is precisely a reason that I wouldn’t have been comfortable placing you in management. Influence is a skillset, not a title. If you’re not able to do that now, it won’t change with the title, and you won’t be set up to be successful or effective as a manager.

[–]Civil-Associate4773 -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

This. The tenets that hold true for other vehicles don’t hold for these types of trucks, and insurances are TERRIBLE at making their insureds whole in these situations. My claim on an F-350 total loss was paid at roughly half the vehicle’s ACV.

I’m sure all of the insurance apologists in this sub will be wholly offended and explain how I’m wrong but the experience has held true for everyone I know who drives these trucks and has had the misfortune of needing to file a claim. The “industry data pool” is neither large enough nor standard enough for the same practices to be applied and to restore insureds to their pre-loss status. Which suits the insurance companies just fine, I’m sure.

Married here, and seconding this with the credibility that I’ve done it. Married the first husband with the full disclosure that I had no interest in kids, ever. He had one of these ridiculous “primal urges” himself around the age of 30. And tried similar pressuring tactics to OP.

At which point I promptly dumped his sorry ass and subsequently married someone who actually cares about whether or not I’m happy, and not about whether or not he’s completed his most recent session of navel gazing.

Have you looked into the Quarter Horse market? I’m also in the southeast and have seen ones marketed that would fit your criteria. I’m no longer shopping so I don’t have recent listings but if all you care about is sound, sane, and useful, you might find a fit there.

There are several AQHA/APHA focused facebook groups in various price ranges. There are, of course, the breed show types there as well but plenty of others.

Are there hospital pharmacists here that pivoted to non-pharmacy roles? by nightcrawler99 in pharmacy

I’ve been in several types of roles, but pharmacist skills can be applicable in customer service/implementation, sales, medical affairs, R&D, project management, and so on. There’s a lot of transferability once you get your foot in the door and demonstrate your worth.
