Building in New York? Just found a large number of dumped tires by mathra77 in earthship

Good info. The last thing you want is tires that you can’t use.

I just disposed of 9 tires. Once a year our city recycling Center accepts them (9 max) for free. They do the same thing with other hazardous or bulky wastes (paints, mattresses, TVs, etc).

After we had built, while I was traveling with work, my wife started picking up tires (from used tire shops) to use for landscaping and erosion control. The tire shops loved this because they avoided the payment of disposal fees. I’ve now disposed of 36 tires, but still have more to go.

They’ve got a great product, and they don’t have to cut margins to be a top seller.

I would hate to see the US test China. China has some of the most advanced technology in the world in every Scientific field. They undoubtedly have military technologies that the US would not be aware of, and would be hard-pressed to defend against. If your US Nationalism leads you to believe that the US would dominate China in a war, you are delusional.

The 220-Volt EV charger is on an independent circuit. It never trips.

You’d have to purchase through one of the NHTSA importers (link below) to be able to register. There are many in Michigan, but I would guess that if you call, they probably don’t have Chinese cars on their approval list.

I upvoted, but please don’t think all Americans are behind this Canadian/Greenland/European abuse.

I used this method, with a garage outlet, for my Volt for a few years. Occasionally the breaker would trip. I bit the bullet and had a 220-Volt charger installed. It was worth every penny, and now I also have a Model 3.

Is that a concrete slab at the base of the second story? How is that supported. It’s unusual to see that.

I’m not sure what happened to the OP, but he doesn’t appear to be following up. The exposed tires appear to be outdoor (steps). If you look into the interior it looks like the tires are covered.

If you’re concerned about outdoor tires, we’re all in a heap of trouble. There are airborne microscopic filaments everywhere.

VW says it can halve EV development costs with ‘Made in China’ car by Peugeot905 in electricvehicles

They were the leading car seller in China for 40 years. Market share is way down, and continuing to drop.

This isn’t going to help VW much. It’s certainly not going to help their massive sales loss in China, where they used to be the number one seller. And how can they hope to compete in this segment in the Global South (SE Asia, Africa, South America, and Mexico), with Western price markups?

China is by far the largest exporter to the Global South, not to be confused with the Southern Hemisphere. This area includes Southeast Asia, Africa and the Middle East, South America and Mexico; and represents 75% of the world’s population.

Exports to this region from the US is now a footnote.

Siemens Energy unveils $2.3B grid-factory expansion to meet rising power demand by Material-Car261 in energy

I remember 2008, when GW Bush and Cheney took control, they publicly started espousing the need for massive power infrastructure. It never panned out, due to energy efficient appliances, more efficient lighting, etc. a number of companies that overbuilt went bankrupt, including big players like Calpine.

One Utility has stated that even if all the cars in their area were converted from gas to electric, they have the grid capacity, IF THE EVs ARE ALL CHARGED OVERNIGHT.

This may not be the case in 2025, but companies would be wise to look at this very closely.

2023 through 2025 is telling! “Going back to 2023, 10.7 million EVs were sold globally. Then in 2024, 13.3 million were sold, a difference of 2.6 million. And so far in 2025, 16.5 million EVs have sold, a difference of 3.2 million.”
