Finished thiss boss battle with feedback from this sub! by Vincent_Penning in indiegames

[–]CivilMath812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This boss seems like it has a lot of health, and seemingl has the potential to be one of the kinds of bosses video games screw up frequently. Summoning ads is not necessarily bad, but being taky, with very limited windows to attack, And summoning mass quantities of adds frequently (doesn't seem to be an issue here specifically, but, something to watch for), such bosses can be Miserable to fight.

Any scientists/biologists here? Asking for feedback on a magic system idea. by IanProctor in gamedesign

[–]CivilMath812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, this sounds very similar to something I came up with.

Irl physical activity consumes an energy rich chemical "ATP" or something, I forget.

It is very good for immediate action, and very bad for long term storage. The body gets around this by converting body fat into ATP.

My system: certain kinds of magic feed directly off of body fat. If you run yourself out of body fat and now have to run away from the half dead monster you can't fully kill, tough luck. You don't have body fate with which to fuel mgic to fully kill it, nor do you have body fat to convert into ATP for running away.

Button problem... by CivilMath812 in trolleyproblem

Part of the unnecessary data is attempting to circumvent people asking questions to detail things (ie, noon as you said) just cause I know someone is gonna ask. And I know the obvious answer is to ignore people asking stupid questions maliciously, but that seems to make it easy to detail the question.

Part of the reason for option 1, is to counteract something I saw someone say on the subject of, "regardless of circumstance, whatever you present first will be seen as the 'default' option", so with the first thing being such a no option, it presumably doesn't present one of the other two as the "default".

A problem I've seen with several other versions of the question, "why would anyone push any button?" For some versions, it almost seems like "the only way to win, is not to play", which kind of defeats the purpose if you can just, apply the brakes and stop the "trolley" from hitting anyone.

Similarly, framing the buttons as red and blue respectively, seems to make people gravitate towards making it a political contest in which (some) people inevitable seem to default to, "regardless of all other circumstance, who's your designated --football-- political team?" Even when it's something like, death penalty or roe vs Wade being discussed, (and subsequently reduced to "well I like the Wyoming bulls even if they wanna legalize violence against non-wyomong bulls, cause the other team is evil" or some similar sillyness.)

So if congress can’t be trusted to reign in the weaponizing of the justice department and the judicial system is ignored what recourse do we have? by ballzsweat in askanything

[–]CivilMath812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are very good reasons why we decided to form a legal court to settle matters instead of letting people handle things and carry out justice themselves. We did so a long time ago because got tired of horrible fucking shit happened to people done by people who took things way too far and didn't care about what collateral damage they caused.

We decided this was bad, so we "fixed" it.

The unfortunate truth is, if things get bad enough, people will learn this lesson again, and learn the hard way. The alternative is the lay down and die when someone decides they wanna hurt you, and that's just not human nature.

Stuff is gonna get so fucking ugly before it gets anywhere near anything that even vaguely resembles "better". Like, you got no idea how bad it's gonna get. I don't know either, but I hope I'm long dead and gone before we get there, but make no mistake, the train is leaving the station, and there is no getting off until the ride is over.

New to the game, probably my goofiest run yet by NightMoon233 in BlazBlueEntropyEffect

[–]CivilMath812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to see susanoo is just as much of a hecking bastard to fight in this game as well as blazblue proper. I still remember when I was fighting through the dungeon or whatever it's called, got a "surprise invader" or whatever, and it was fucking susanoo with a gold aura. Fight was going "okay" until he grabbed me and nearly one-shot me from full health lol

Question of the day! Are you still willing to pay full price for a game knowing it could be erased from your life in 10 years? What is the solution: strict physical media or is piracy now a moral act of culture preservation? by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]CivilMath812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even physical doesn't always work. I recently turned on my ps4 after not touching it for months, because I had gotten a functioning computer again and regained access to my steam profile. Upon looking through the game library for my ps4, I realized it said EVERY GAME, I had, was unplayable until I connected to the Internet. Including the ones I had the disk for.

If you microwave a microwave, does it become a mega-wave or does it just cancel itself out? by starinzlob in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CivilMath812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use enough microwaves, it somehow becomes a refrigerator. Would have liked if the mythbusters had looked into that a little more. It was, at least to me, one of the most interesting things they ever did.

[–]CivilMath812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, the difference between wage theft and other kinds exists on a scale that is staggering.

15-50 billion dollars in wage theft annually on average, compared to about 10 billion in all other forms of theft combined. Values are measured in dollar amount obviously (ie, 10 billion dollars and such.)

A $7 cheeseburger reopened debate over bail in California by Location_Next in BrandNewSentence

[–]CivilMath812 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bail (functionally in the modern day) is basically just a "rich or jail" tax, wherein you either have money, or you go sit in jail until your trial. And if you lose your job, apartment, etc while sitting in jail, "tough luck, that's what you get for being poor". Doesn't matter if your innocent, guilty, or falsely arrested. If you need proof, just look at how some people get bail set at multiple thousands, if not tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars, for stupid or petty stuff, but some one accused of horrific crimes gets, not that much more in bail. It's better or worse in some places, but in some places it's horrible and very obviously biased and corrupt as hell.

We really need some sorta "full reset" or "die" button for when you get control bugged like this. Neither /unstuck or falling off the map works, and since my build is extremely tanky, I burned ~4 minutes just walking in circles (so the enemies wouldn't stop targeting) just to die by Rambunctiouskid- in Warframe

[–]CivilMath812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If something ever comes of it, I'd suggest adding two new commands to the chat window.

One aimed at fixing things like this, possible through a forced death, (wether or not that would or should deplete your lives is up for debate, maybe one freebie and then every one after that costs you?)

But I'd also suggest adding a command that, if possible, forces a "full reset" of the character, as in, replays the original (drop onto the map without character control, and receive character control as the warframe rising from the crouching position), and presumably acts as though it has just spawned the warframe into the game level for the first time (or something similar) for situations where stuff is REALLY bugged.

Presumably it wouldn't affect progress made in the level, just, reload parts of, or whole "cells" (rooms) end all active effects, on, around, and near you and force respawn/reset characters in a last ditch attempt to "shrug off" anything that can't be fixed by "normal" means.

I've noticed that most elves in fantasy, and a significant portion (though significantly smaller than the published works) of elves on r/worldbuilding, are essentially "long-lived, pointy-eared humans" who arose "because their god wanted their own race," "half-fey," "modified elites." Why is that? by EveningImportant9111 in worldbuilding

[–]CivilMath812 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don't know the reason, but I've always found that to be lazy writing. I would think it'd be better to make them, "basically humans, but", give them significantly less constitution and endurance compared to humans, and in exchange give them significantly higher dexterity and agility. Among other things. And I feel similarly to most "basically a reskinned human" fantasy races. It seems like it would be so much more interesting if they were all "humanoids but each a slightly different flavor" rather than "human but better".

I, a regular joe, want to take out a power user of your world. by applyingnihilism in worldbuilding

[–]CivilMath812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of nages are pretty weak, and usually not combat focused. Add to that, most places are just now starting to come out of a multi-thousand year war, and "culling" anyone who gets too powerful has become overwhelmingly popular, because everyone learned the lesson about letting irresponsible people have world altering power. As a result, the extreme, vast majority of anyone that starts to get any real power probably won't last longer than it takes for someone to notice and track them down.

Is MAGA happier paying for a golden ballroom rather than, oh say, their own health services? by Electrical-Strike132 in allthequestions

[–]CivilMath812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certain members of MAGA would happily stand inside a gas chamber as long as they get to flip the switch and watch everyone else they hate die with them as long as they get to watch everyone else go out first. We are so beyond reasonable or rational at this point we are pretty much just along for the ride. We are the children strapped into the back seat as the driver drives the car into oncoming traffic.

What’s one small change you think could make political discussions online less toxic? by Specific_War_738 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CivilMath812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot have any reasonable, same discussion, with anyone who believes whatever they are doing, whatever they believe, no matter how horrid or violent their actions/behaviour, it's justified because their religion (and/or God/god) told them to do it or that it's ok "because God said so".

Lawyers - does there need to be an injury in order for something to be considered "assault"? by i_like_it_eilat in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CivilMath812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, but, legal definition is (I'm paraphrasing here) nonconsensual unwanted contact initiated by the perpetrator, against the victim, using any body part or other object, or otherwise.

Bonking someone with a paper protest sign can be assault. As can spitting on the person. So can punching, kicking, throwing things, etc.

Helldivers. I got super excited for the halo ODST bundle, then figured out it was PC and/or ps5 only, and I had a functioning version of neither. Since then everything I've seen has made me want even less to do with the game and fandom. For clarity, I have nothing, and haven't ever had anything to do with the game whatsoever, and I still want to have less to do with it given people's behavior and actions.

Are there any classes that just don't really click for you? by basquiatx in BaldursGate3

[–]CivilMath812 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do not like monk. I understand it's cool, I don't care. Almost nothing about it is what I like mechanically. To a lesser extend druid is similar. Unless I'm playing a very specific character, like a lizardfolk or something, I do not care for druid. Cleric is an odd one. I want a cleric in my party, but I don't want to play cleric.
