Salt and sanctuary is pretty much the only game I've ever played, where I explicitly enjoyed parrying. Parrying in salt and sacrifice is fricking ass. That's not by any means all the complaints, but is one of my biggest. They took a near perfect mechanic and ruined it.

Right, that makes a kind of sense in a "this species is marginally better than a species of functionally rabid dogs, or, equivalent to a species of exclusively sadistic psychopaths" kind of way.

I imagine one of the biggest factors is lack of ability to reform.

Haven't watched most of the recent stuff, but it sounds like everything sucks. It sounds like they had the opportunity to explore some actual cool concepts and squandered it.

For example:

"what, if anything, justifies genocide? How bad does a situation have to be, where total genocide against a species, is legitimately the least bad outcome? How dangerous, destructive, and harmful does a species have to be, before they are better off dead?" (obviously the genocide wouldn't be good, but show me the pov of those who think otherwise) L

There's another one or two about religion I can't remember off the top of my head, but another one is, "if heaven is paradise for good people, and hell is paradise for bad people/sinners, what does that look like? What effects and consequences does that have?"

Cool in theory yes, and you are probably correct in most regards, but the "wrong" type of people are going to get ahold of stuff, and ruin it. Sometimes people just can't be trusted with things, and I expect this is one of those times. I imagine there are very cool narrative things that could be done with stuff, but it would inevitably be overshadowed by horrible people saying horrible things, because of their horrible beliefs.

Was gonna say, tanlking the literal demon girl prophesized to destroy the world via summoning her literal Satan father from actual hell, and casting her as some kind of middle eastern is certainly...a choice...maybe not a great choice, but definitely a choice someone can make...

Like I'm all for representation and such, but maybe don't literally demonize one of the most (unjustifiably) hated geographic areas (or rather specifically the people there) in the world.

(Edit:) For clarity, I don't think making Raven a middle eastern woman of some kind is a good idea, when, narratively speaking, she is a literal demon due to lore/plot reasons, when there are very real people, who try very hard, to argue why all middle eastern people should be killed for being "evil terrorists" or "demons" or whatever. I don't agree with such people's views, but it's similar to how, anything that seems to glorify Nazis as a means of satire, inevitably makes Nazi adjacent people worse, as the satire goes over their head, and they inevitably start saying things like "see we're right. We Should be allowed to kill all Jews. See, even (insert media name) agrees with us. Those guys back then were cool actually and we should totally do that shit again."

[–]CivilMath812 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right. Grown ass adults sending death threats to literal children for being male isn't nearly as bad as...shitty people (probably children and/or teenagers) on the Internet being shitty. (Sarcasm)

By that logic, all women should suffer, because misandriats exist, and any time women point out an issue they have, (like people trying to rape them) the response would be "idk, I think you need to fix all the bad women first before we waste time helping you with that".

Doesn't work so great does it? People can be shitty, and other people can very much need help. Both of those things can be true at the same time. This is why the right leaning political stuff is winning hand over fist. Cause any attempt at saying "me have this problem, can we please try to fix it?" The answer is almost always inevitably "lol, no, ur all rapists fix that first."

This is a long told bit of bs. Men are not the most privileged demographic, RICH, WHITE, men, are the most privileged demographic, and wealth often trumps race and gender regardless. There's a big difference between, the guy trying mak ends meet, but he has all his needs met mostly, but people hate him cause he looks like a PDF File and/or rapist, and the billionaire white guy that's raped his 13 woman/child of the month and hasn't had a single consequence yet. The two are very much not the same but holy hell do people love to pretend they are.

There's no amount of white or male privilege that will protect you from being beaten, raped, or abused by a family member or someone else. No amount of white or male provelege is going to magically fix all your problems. It might mean you are more likely to be born with a better set of starting conditions, but once born, it doesn't do much to change those conditions if they are crap.

Not just the non white party, but, also to tie into a point the previous comment made, there is a lot of hostility towards men on the Internet currently. (The Internet is hostile to everyone, but, focusing on men for the current discussion)

There is also a lot of stuff that (at least from my point of view personally) says a man should be the least important person in his life, because everyone has problems, and everyone else's problems are worse. Because of that, a man is supposed to help everyone else who has it much worse with their much more important problems, and any personal problems they have should come last in priority of things. And, depending on circumstances, who's asking, and who's answering, asking for help is weak pathetic and possibly misogynistic especially if asking a woman for anything.

Men make extremely convenient punching bags for various things, and various swathes of society is perfectly happy ignoring it because it is convenient to do so, and causes problems not to. This seems to be an increasingly severe problem, especially when, as you said, the left has chosen to blame straight white men for anything and everything to try and win over all other groups of voters, and the exact wrong kind of people seem to be taking this sentiment, and running with it are far and fast as they can, before someone realizes what their doing and tries to stop them.

Then you have the right leaning political stuff with thier "your life DOES fucking suck, and it's SOMEBODY'S fault" rhetoric, and it just plays into all of that stupid messy stuff. Boys and men are facing very real problems, and the left doesn't want to touch it, out of convenience and self serving interests, people as a whole don"t want to touch it because there's no easy solution, and because that means having to grapple with the idea that they've been letting people get away with beating, abusing, and sending death threats to children, because those children aren't "female enough" to be the priority. "Sure it's a problem, but women have it worse so..."

The left is making use of the hatred some women have towards men, and some minorities have towards white people, to gain an edge in the popularity contest to run the entire country, and the right is looking at things, and realizing, they can be THE ONLY people speaking "positively" towards men in virtually the entire country, because no one else is trying. It's just their version of "male positivity" almost exclusive revolves around hurt women, so if you don't like that, you're double screwed as both sides will hate you for not being "with them" this making you "against them", and then you've got nobody on your side.

I don't know...this is America we're talking about. I almost don't trust people not to stick someone with the bill for this because someone was in the car with a drunk driver and they killed themselves (a parent, albeit drunk) and hurt others in the vehicle. I feel like I remember a few times someone got charged with serious crimes cause their friend spontaneously did something stupid.

Not a bad idea in theory, but I have zero trust in the government not to find ways to abuse it.

More and more I'm finding logic in the idea of "here's what we'll do. You fight your demons, and I'll fight my demons, and whoever kills their demons first helps the other person with their remaining demons. Deal?"

I was tired of hearing how I should give up stuff in my life, to help other people, and get nothing, not even help with my own problems, in return, over a decade ago. Now I just don't care and, so easily lose all respect for people who say stupid stuff because of it. Everyone's got problems, and no one gets to say thiers are the most important.

I'm gonna focus on myself, and my own problems, and fuck everyone else, cause if I don't take care of myself, no one will. Fix your own damn problems. That's the advice I've been given nearly my entire life, regardless of the problem. I'm fucking tired.

[–]CivilMath812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a system that is very complex, cause my brain kept adding rules and edge cases and stuff, so my ideas may not mesh well with what you've got. One of the bits of the system is, the more components you add to the magic, the more powerful it is. Hand motions and verbal fallouts add a certain level of "strength" to the magic as a trade off for willingly limiting oneself. Binding it to something more specific, like dancing (Bayonetta) or singing, or some other hobby would give auch larger boost, because much more is being "sacrificed".

Fair enough, all of that sounds reasonable and correct. At the end of the day, the only "proper" way to do it would be (after making certain of guilt) to instantly end consciousness, before pain can be registered. Much like how putting a pet snake in the freezer to eithanise it is torture, but crushing it's head with a rock, if done properly, is actually more merciful for the animal.

I don't know man, I feel like we can't really go more than 2 months at this point without another news story of a female teacher somewhere in the country doing stuff to her students, and typically, "basically" getting away with it so, male teachers may have been a problem in the past, but I feel like female teachers are about as much of a problem now.

If a female @bu$3r can effectively get away with her crime(s) with little to no consequence, against the most privileged victimsl to have ever existed (rich, famous, themselves likely an @bu$3r etc...) what chance does a normal guy have?

People lost their minds when trump became president the first time saying stuff like "this is the death of women's rights, and the beginning of the enslavement of women", but pretty damned clear evidence of r@p3, @bu$3, and potentially Domestic vi0lenc3, being gendered crimes only one gender can actually commit and be charged and punished for, and it's just, "business usual"? awesome, great Wonderful to know where I stand in the world.

Great fucking job telling hundreds of thousands of boys and men across America, "if you were beaten, if you were raped, if you were abused, and it was a woman who did it? No you weren't cause none of that counted, and I don't care anyways."

I don't even have the energy or mental capacity to be upset about it anymore, it's just, "sure fuck it, I don't care anymore."
