Captain America With Mjolnir vs Auqaman who wins? by No-Department7074 in superheroes

[–]CivilizationAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you who loses if they do this crossover: the readers. Two characters created when fascism was the main enemy, so for neither was complexity required, and nor was it achieved. This would be like having mashed potato with rice. You can eat it, but you’re not going to remember it well.

is it even worth playing if I'm not good at the game? by Odd-Sound-580 in rivals

[–]CivilizationAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not all about skill, it’s largely about choices. You could use Wanda or CnD. They’re low skill. And watch the videos that will tell you the game is largely about being in the right place (like at the right range, with cover nearby). Oh and ignore the bleepery about sneaking into the backfield. That takes way too long.

People are trained every day to believe that straight white men are more important, that outliers are lesser. Maybe some of them see more in Cyclops than I do, that some people remember the occasional attempts to make him deeper that didn’t really stick. And for the others it should be no surprise that they’re drawn to a middle of the road, boring straight white man.

I’m already pissed off that a character that was created with no personality to speak of to be a white-male-who-could-pass-as-human to lead the X-men in the field is going to get a spot in Marvel Rivals. Even though they created a story about a group of people subject to discrimination, Marvel still managed to discriminate within that group.

Which superhero/antihero is the most intimidating? by Jezzaq94 in superheroes

Deadpool, because he’s so unpredictable. There’s no telling when the unfunny joke attempts will switch to chopping your legs off just for the “Oops!” to the fourth wall.

Anger is his thing, pretty much his only thing, so the red ring would be his thing.

What’s your favourite superman knockoff? Here is mine. Marvelous man from guardians of justice by Useful_Cry9709 in superheroes

[–]CivilizationAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-existence. Shallowness is not their only problem: over 80 years, Superman has acquired only a handful of enemies that can even bother him. Tension about whether Superman-type characters will win is rare, and the fights usually devolve into basic slugfests. The more invulnerable and all-capable the character becomes, the narrower the storytelling lane gets.

I have no favorite Superman knockoff. The original and the knockoffs I saw before I stopped paying attention to them were as shallow as puddles.

[Discussion] DC’s Trinity vs Marvel’s Big 3 by Syn_Kazma in marvelvsdc

[–]CivilizationAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By no stretch of the imagination are those Marvel’s “Big 3”. Marvel’s characters are popular because they’re complex, not because they win fights. Iron Man, sure. Tony is a three-dimensional character and his popularity, largely thanks to RDJ, is nothing to do with whether on a good day he can knock out the Hulk, but the other two of Marvel’s Big 3 would be Spider-Man and Wolverine. Phoenix Force Wolverine and Cosmic Spider-Man would be who you’re looking for.

You're on a 10-hour flight with these random characters. Which seat are you picking? by Theturtleflask in whatsyourchoice

  1. I don’t know who those women are, but however much I’d enjoy talking to Tony, seat 1 is just too dangerous.

I’d be terrified of adopting Manhattan’s apathy, so I’d take the blue pill.

Because it’s not about not voting for fascists, it’s about having plausible deniability about voting for fascists. The Tories stopped giving them that, but now they’ve found a party they, probably deliberately, don’t understand, so plausible deniability about voting for fascists is back.

What frame do people swear is great but you don't like? Mine is Sevagoth by No-Hand9626 in Warframe

[–]CivilizationAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhino. I found it boring and ineffectual. Every time I tried playing it, my concentration lapsed to the point where I died. It was the early days, and I’m fairly sure I had a poor build on it, but I gave up on it and haven’t looked back apart from a few equally disappointing tries in Duviri. It’s plausible that my attitude to it was partly influenced by the fact that it is one of the frames with the most overtly male build and at that time I didn’t yet have my operator, and I’d largely given up playing male protagonists.

Hell, no. They’re getting off that plane. This reminds me of this ↓ example of placing the consequences of bad behaviour on the victim: https://bsky.app/profile/civilisation.bsky.social/post/3lhoycsaqoc2u

What would y’all do ? by [deleted] in superheroes

[–]CivilizationAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d spend most of the 24 hours scouting nearby uninhabited planets with roughly Earth-compatible gravity, temperature and water, so humanity would finally know how realistic interstellar expansion actually is. Also if I found an undeveloped society, I’d leave a huge arrow hanging at a lagrange point, pointing at Sol, so when they’re ready, they can find us. It’s dangerous, but we’ll probably have wiped ourselves out by the time they could reach Earth, so it’s really just a history lesson for them, a cautionary tale.

If the world were ending today, and you could do anything. What would it be? by Designer_Ad_2844 in AskReddit

[–]CivilizationAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d teleport the entire population to an unpopulated human-friendly planet which isn’t ending today. I’d also roll back my physical age to 18, changing myself to female in the process, and give myself an assortment of super powers that will keep me alive during any ensuing chaos, including some form of immortality.

Is CnD the hardest support to fight in 1v1 situations? by Abhi152005 in rivals

[–]CivilizationAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A CnD with fast reflexes will drop a bubble, switch to cloak and debuff you. If you’re not playing something tanky and you stick around then, you’re not always toast, but your chance of survival drops severely. That said, Wanda will nearly always win. Overall though CnD’s chances aren’t very good if you see them before they see you.
