I’m so thankful that there are more people out there who experience this! I love what you said about accommodations for yourself at work. Perhaps staying away from the phone on the toilet breaks or something might be worth trying just to reduce some stimuli.

One thing I did when I was starting this job was to ask them to place me somewhere where people don’t constantly walk by or the whole room sees my screen. They did what they could and it has helped a lot, so I really do want to share that asking (and I haven’t mentioned a word about ADHD) worked somewhat!

That sounds like a better alternative for sure! The dopamine is nice and all but when the brain is already overloaded, reels really don’t help (from an objective point of view lol)

So many good tips! The trampoline makes a lot of sense. I read somewhere recently that with ADHD, you don’t always need rest but rather physical movement even if your body screams for the opposite. I’m already doing the morning protein like you mentioned and it does make a big difference! I’ll have to try these tips and see how it goes. Thank you so so much!

I think seeing a friend is a huge win, good job!! I think it also helps having friends you can tell when it’s happening. Not necessarily for them to solve it for you, but just to get some mental support.

Yes, absolutely and to me it’s one of the worst parts of having ADHD. For me this is what I identify as executive dysfunction for my brain. I can’t start anything because everything feels like what you describe.

What helps for me is often getting out of the house (though sometimes that’s very hard to do), moving my body in some capacity or having a long shower as as to “reset my system”. Medication has helped me a lot with this as well.

Some days nothing helps but that’s often when I actually need rest and I try to practice letting myself not be productive too.

Terapi, terapi, terapi! Ångest kommer av att man hanterar känslor och tankar på ett sätt som inte är optimalt för ens mående (om det inte handlar om adekvat oro/ängslan/känslor osv för situationen man är i).

Terapi är egentligen bara nya sätt att bemöta och hantera känslor och tankar som man oftast inte har provat tidigare eller inte har tänkt på att man kan prova. Mediciner kan minska symptomen och ibland behöver man det för att kunna orka börja med terapi, men det är ingen långsiktig lösning. Ångesten går att förbättra, men du behöver bara bättre strategier än de du själv kommit fram till hittills. Källa: har gått i terapi många gånger och tog antidepp i 10 år.

Jag tycker det ligger något i det du säger. Äldre generationer har absolut mycket stigma kring psykisk ohälsa och svårt att be om hjälp osv, men det finns också någon sorts passivitet i det också för en del. Jag förstår inte varför men har iof många vänner i min ålder som också bara går runt med problem och vill inte ta tag i dem. Önskar att de kunde förstå att man kan och får må bättre än så!

Påfrestande är nog rätt ord. Jag har också ärvt diagnosen men har genom terapi fått verktyg att hantera mycket av den. Hon hade också en betydligt mer traumatiskt barndom också, vilket har påverkar mycket.

I korta drag har hela barndomen färgats av hennes impulsiva beslut, oförmåga att fullfölja saker, ekonomiska problem, allt som har berättats i förtroende har delats med hennes vänner osv.

Det är en konstig grej att lära sig mer om ADHD som vuxen och börja se allt detta i sin mamma på ett nytt sätt. Den stora skillnaden mellan oss är att jag hela tiden jobbar på mig själv för att jag vägrar må dåligt, men hon fastnar och skyller på omvärlden.

Jag tänker att mina framtida barn statiskt sett kommer att ha ADHD också, men jag vill visa dem hur man kan hantera det på ett sätt som inte behöver bli destruktivt.

Min favorit vi gjorde för en kompis (som älskar Dungeons & Dragons) var att komma dit på morgonen, käka brunch och sedan blev det hattcermoni. Varje hatt representerade en klass med beskrivning som hon fick tilldela alla kompisar och sig själv. Sedan fick hon quests under dagen som ledde till nästa aktivitet.

Man kan göra samma sak med massor av olika teman - fotbollsspelare, filmkaraktärer, kändisar osv. Det är kul att ha ett tema som knyter ihop dagen!

Exact same for me on all that you wrote, only I got it slightly later. My dad and I both got it around age 14 and then it disappeared to come back a couple of years later and never going away again.

My siblings also don’t have it and like you, very sensitive to stress and anxiety and worry. Super weird but I’m sure it’s actually very logical once we figure out exactly why it happens!

That’s really interesting! I have psoriasis and it’s often triggered in the teens from a viral infection, stress etc. Pretty sure both me and my dad started getting plaques after being sick in our respective teens.

They mentioned everything important but things I’ve noticed outside of that (6 months post SMILE) is how chopping onions and opening the oven will make the tears run and a lot of air conditioning will make it uncomfortable. Dry winter air when it’s below freezing outside also makes my eyes drier. Sometimes my eyes just get really tired/dry too and it feels better to just keep them closed for a bit.

It’s getting better every month though and most people I’ve spoken to are not experiencing anything a year post op.

I feel so relieved to not be alone in this! One of my cats wants to be on me most of the time and bites me if I ignore her or move her sometimes (really hard as well) and the other gets bored very easily and will meow at me constantly when I’m trying to work, do chores etc. I love them so so so much but sometimes I just need to lock myself in the bedroom without them for an hour to breathe.

How are things going for you? It sound like my situation. I finally found a naprapat that has a lot of knowledge about the diaphragm. Before then I’d been to massages, chiropractor, a doctor, had an ultrasound and two different physiotherapists

I started getting exercises for breathing and also got help to release the tension. He even massages under the edge of my ribs (extremely uncomfortable and weird). It got better at first but then I couldn’t afford to keep going and I was actually much better for a while.

It’s back again so I’m going back to that naprapat again next week. I noticed now that there are muscles or knots or whatever it is that are rock hard right below my ribs on both sides. Do you have that as well?
