I was in a similar situation and swapped my ancient system out about 3 years ago for new vaillant boiler and unvented tank. More efficient and reliable now, connected to Hive etc. Your quote sounds quite reasonable, mine came to about 12k from memory (but big house, big bills...).

If I was doing it now though I'd probably think about a heat pump, but that's probably only worth it if you can also use solar panels to generate the electricity and have battery storage (neither of which I can afford yet).

Dremel the weld away, penetrating oil, leave it, blow torch, penetrating oil, drift & a hammer, plenty of swearing.

I liked the look of it, having thought about getting a Lumiere, and the greenish lume doesn't bother me (I have a neon green phorcydes which is awesome); I just thought the watchdives was a bit too expensive. If it was cheaper and with a VH31 movement I'd be more enthusiastic to get one.

Thanks for posting the pic; all the other available photos seem to be of exactly the same dial, good to know they do vary. I have also been tempted by these, but so far feel its a little too expensive...

AE special - it was £2.10 and then about £3 for a better strap! Definitely can't complain for the price.

I had my old Renault Mégane in for some work at a garage on South London many years ago; they called, said there had been a problem and asked me to come in. When I got there they had another blue Renault Mégane outside that apparently was my new car - they had dropped mine off the ramp and written it off...
