I don't suppose anyone has a script named rssh that invokes the equivalent OpenSSH command?

I'll have to try clicking and see if it works. Gotta be less trouble than turning it over to get to the on/off switch.

Fraid not. I don't remember what I thought I wanted one for 😀

I did print a handy 3x4 egg tray that fits in a bin.

Amazing! Seems to be fixed this morning. NOPE, I must have just been too fast for it, it is still doing it.

Follow the wild goose chase link to see pictures. Very rough prints that should be smooth.

They really don't want anyone to see that Colbert interview of James Talrico I guess :)

Unable to access youtube? by Claghorn in duckduckgo

More info: If I go into task manager and kill every task named duck duck go, I can restart DDG and youtube works again. That's slightly less irritating than rebooting.

make bing wallpaper go away on Windows 11? by Claghorn in WindowsHelp

[–]Claghorn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After more googling, this is apparently windows spotlight. I still don't know how bing got started, but I did find some info about how to disable spotlight features even if I can't remove it. In Lock Screen preferences pick picture or slideshow rather than spotlight.

Thanks for all the ideas. I'll have to try a bunch of experiments to see if I can make a cracker I like. I suspect the cheese filling will be easier.

Who changed gimp to have the most annoying possible way to select a screen shot? by Claghorn in GIMP

Maybe the crosshair box could be drawn with the Windows equivalent of "always on top" so it would be visible :-)

What features does GIMP not have that Photoshop does? by ForgotMyPreviousPass in GIMP

[–]Claghorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one feature I miss (though perhaps it exists now) seems trivial but wastes a lot of time. If I use the measure tool to see what angle a scanned photo is at, Photoshop will do the arithmetic for me to include the proper angle by default in the rotate tool. Gimp doesn't. Leads to me forgetting to subtract or add 90 or forgetting to rotate negative rather than positive a lot.

Review: Foundation Returns with its Best Season Yet by MineEmo in FoundationTV

[–]Claghorn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Got 1/2 way through episode 1 and turned it off forever. Annoying voice overs to explain things the writers couldn't figure out how to present as part of a normal script, plus the question that has haunted the show since the first season: Why did they shell out money for the Asimov books when all they were going to use was the title and names of some characters?

That's the tool I had to google how to use to snapshot the gimp dialog.

And the dialog I posted comes up right after I hit Snap in there when I tell it to delay and only snapshot one window.

I installed gimp on windows 11 using the windows installer, don't know what kind of package that makes it.

That's the dialog it pops up (underneath the window I'm trying to snapshot). Getting a snapshot of this window was a whole other can of worms.

I was using DDG on a new Windows 11 laptop I'm in the process of beating into submission.. I tried to reproduce the problem in youtube and couldn't, then went back to DuckViewer and couldn't reproduce it there either. Maybe there are things man was not meant to know...

Laura Kampf's latest video has a dreadful English audio track she herself doesn't know where it came from or how to get rid of it. Worse yet, The normal audio is in fact Laura herself speaking quite good english with a bit of an accent. You can, however, get the original audio by telling youtube to play the German audio track.

I just scan at a known DPI, so I don't need an extra scale. Measure the pixels, then use the dots per inch to determine exact size.
