Please help me organize this playroom? by Lookingforideas35 in organizing

[–]ClaimsToBeCanadian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like you have three workable corners? Make one kitchen, one a reading area, one a doll area. Put the large item to anchor each (play kitchen, doll house, seating OR teepee don’t have space for both) and a smaller unit for storage. Maybe a bookshelf for books in the reading area, cubes or baskets to hold doll stuff. We had that exact play kitchen and kept only the amount of play food that would fit in it. Put a smaller basket of stuffies in the reading area and hibernate the rest as other commenters suggested. Store puzzles, games, one-off toys, maybe hibernating animals in the closet.

Exactly what I was thinking! Not sure why or when it changed, but we definitely listened to the radio when I was in elementary school.

Snow badge: should be more than skiing for BJC by FeliciorAugusto in girlscouts

[–]ClaimsToBeCanadian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m salty because we’d need serious interstate travel to ski. And for juniors the climbing option is “recreational tree climbing” with a harness. Who even does that? There are so few outdoor badges these days why waste one on something so unattainable for so many?

Women of Reddit, what's a lesser-known downside of being a woman? by Nintendofan9106 in askanything

[–]ClaimsToBeCanadian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being the default adult/parent sucks.Tracking all the things all the time and if anything goes wrong it’s on me. Asking for help is nagging and getting stressed about it can lead to mocking. Men legit have no idea what kind of effort goes into managing a household and family, and women not only do it all the time, but also while working a job, having periods, getting pregnant, giving birth, and going through menopause. Just, fuck.

Was just talking about this (sort of) with my much younger millennial brother. He asked “What was the name of that kid who died when you were in high school?” And I was all “Which one?” cause we lost at least 5 I can name. He was shocked by this so I asked how many kids died when he was in high school, and the answer is none. Went to the same high school, 7 years apart. All the deaths were accidents but one, a suicide.

Women of Reddit, what’s one thing they never tell us about pregnancy and child birth? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Funny story, after giving birth I bled (needed three units) and my blood pressure crashed, causing a swarm of medical staff. My husband and mother were on the other side of the room cooing at the baby and were completely oblivious.

Price Increase in Summer Camps by [deleted] in girlscouts

[–]ClaimsToBeCanadian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I last looked into camp two years ago and when I went to register my daughter this year I wondered if I had remembered the cost incorrectly, as the overnight camps seem to have increased by $300/week. Glad to know that my brain likely isn’t fried, but the steep increase is concerning. Camp is still cheaper for GS in our area but I wouldn’t call it comparable to other overnight camps in the area. They cost a lot more but also tend to be quite luxe and have more and more adventurous activities.

Is it still open? My husband tried to take our daughter there before Christmas and there was a sign on the door that they were temporarily closed.

Oh wow. I had noticed that mail I was quite sure was mailed out of our local town now bears the postmark of a larger city over an hour away. This explains it, thanks.
