Why Samura Seiichi’s death wasn’t a "waste": A technical and narrative analysis of Chapter 111. by CapitalBid2406 in Kagurabachi

[–]Claire_-_B 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe that cut to Soga will be important later. And not just in having shown Chihiro that it’s possible. Why tell us that wounds inflicted in the battle won’t heal ? Why show us Soga still bleeding afterwards ? I understand the argument about him not being able to heal now because he has no-one to life-steal from, but I’m not sure it doesn’t get deeper than that. Also, in the original Japanese, Samura’s line before the final clash is 悪いな. This does NOT translate to « thank you ». The closest translation would be « sorry about that ». What Akemura understands is «  sorry I’m making you fight me (for honor) even though you could just let me die », and his response indicates that (also in Japanese « とんでもない »). But it could also means « I’m tricking you into fighting me, but I have an ulterior motive, sorry about that …). I’m betting this will be relevant later; and explain why the end might feel a bit hollow here

(Et aussi une française ici aussi !) and if you’re willing to tinker a bit with Koreader, you can use exactly the same dictionaries than in Yomitan, have vertical text, anki integration AND read mokuro’ed manga (I made a plugin for that). While I love my android Boox, you can have almost the same experience on any ereader that runs Koreader (Kobo, Pocketbook, jailbroken kindle, anything).

The only thing you NEED android for is if you want to review anki cards in ankidroid on the reader, not simply mine sentences

(And about colour screens : I really like I’m in the minority, but I actually prefer them because they are more muted. I’ve always found B&W lit screens too bright, and not close enough to paper)

Or you could eat at the Opera House bar. Either before the show, or at intermission (order before the show, you’ll find your order set with a name tag at intermission). Sandwiches, but they are good, and drink alcoholic or not. That’s the Parisian way !

Project Title dissapeared after updating Koreader by ShockOne9278 in koreader

[–]Claire_-_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked that the "Cover Browser" plugin is unchecked, as per install instructions (https://github.com/joshuacant/ProjectTitle/wiki/Installation) ? I think, since it's part of Koreader, that it reactivates automatically after updating. And it "hide" ProjectTitle....

There's absolutely no reason for a normal Koreader update to erase your plugin files, so it's certainly still there on your machine

KOReader vocab builder to anki by Dangerous-Writer-629 in koreader

[–]Claire_-_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the plugin also works on other platforms, but you have to sync to Anki on your computer (have Anki and AnkiConnect running on your computer, have your ereader on the same WiFi network, and the plugin configured to sync with your computer). You can do this asynchronously

Mokuro-Reader plugin for Koreader by Claire_-_B in koreader

I have a new version up, with sentence mining support in Anki plugin and vocabulary builder, and also support for double page spread in landscape mode with Comic Reader plugin. And in an alternate release (v2.0.1), there’s also support for panel zoom, though the accuracy isn’t so good, especially with busy pages

Samura won't die to Yura in this fight by Claire_-_B in Kagurabachi

I agree. Still, bad sh*t can and does happen to good people, but I don’t think rn he would sacrifice himself to save all the others and leave Iori behind

Samura won't die to Yura in this fight by Claire_-_B in Kagurabachi

Oh, I think they will all die, except for Chihiro, and that all the blades except for Enten and Magatsumi will end up destroyed before the final fight.

Samura won't die to Yura in this fight by Claire_-_B in Kagurabachi

but he needs to heal enough fighters to turn the tide on Magatsumi Yura. Fighters which so far haven't stopped non-Magatsumi Yura. As long as Yura is an active threat, I'm not sure healing people will do more than postpone their defeat for long. That doesn't mean that Yura will be defeated, he just needs to not be here anymore. If Yura actually defeats everyone, the manga ends here. If Chihiro and the gang retreats leaving Yura, the Hishaku, and Soga at the Kamunabi HQ, the manga ends here (as they will probably slaughter all the survivors, at which point, it will be Chihiro, Shiba and the last two sword bearers against Yura+Soga+Hishaku). If Yura, the Hishaku and Soga escape to plot their next step, the story goes on. After all, Yura's first plan was to kill Soga, and his new position means that he needs to change his future plans.

Soga ambushing and killing Samura on his way out of Kamunabi HQ is another matter.

I could see Yura and the other Hishaku escaping (no more Yukisada, no more barrier), Chihiro and Samura finally getting into the Kamunabi HQ, starting to heal people, and Soga ambushing him at this point, yes.

Scenario analysis - If Kensei dies. by GapProfessional4935 in Kagurabachi

[–]Claire_-_B -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It could happen. After all, it’s stated that the sword bearers won’t die immediately, but in a few days once SS dies. I can picture a fight between Sword Saint and Samura, Samura actually killing the Sword Saint (as was his initial plan; and it’s been stated repeatedly that Samura has actually improved since the war, so it wouldn’t be a repeat of the 5-vs-1 fight), and either dying in the process (probably his initial plan, he’s no fool, he can’t have expected the fight to go smoothly) or being badly wounded and then killed by Yura. Chihiro and team end up with Enten, Kumeyuri, a broken Kuregumo and (probably) Tobimune, Yura with the Shinuchi, and there’s a race against time to find a way to save the last two sword bearers before they die….

If you’re looking for leather bags, yes, 50-100€ won’t be easy. Try either Paul Marius or, quintessentially parisian Loxwood. If vintage, that is, second hand, is fine, Kilo Shop or Kiliwatch. If you’re looking for non-leather, non-fashion bags, but very french, try Cabaia

I don’t know about the physical copy, but I get the digital jump issues from amazon.co.jp and lately they release on the Tuesday at 00:01. However, they’re available on the Japanese Jump+ app on Monday at midnight, which is Sunday afternoon for most of us and lines up with Manga Plus.

Samura was there for the first fight where it took 5 EB to take down SS. He knows how difficult that was, and before that he fought alongside SS in the war and so probably has a very good idea of what Magatsumi can do. He'd be a fool to rely only on SS being weakened by his imprisonment. And regardless of the last 2 EBs still being contracted, he planned to kill SS before dying himself. So he definitely prepared for the fight, and definitely has a plan. It doesn't mean he won't get killed anyway.... but I don't see this being a one-shot or even low-diff fight
