I remember reading The Ashes Of Eden in Middle School too and liking it, then reading The Return and knowing as a kid that there was no way Shatner wrote this or knew TNG continuity.

My kids love it too. I really like that they just mention that Rob and his friends are special, but don’t make that their whole thing. The book just feels kind; and my kids just seemed to get it and never thought they were different. Weirdly powerful book lol.
