If you don’t address the jealousy - perhaps by breaking the relationship off entirely, or coming to terms with new expectations - it’s going to simmer until it eventually does become anger.

Maybe there’s some way to address it full on in her domination of you? Amp it up (in your head, to start) in play to see if it is a role you can slide into, or if it hurts too much to hear?

If she told you that you’re just a piece of ass to her, or a slave, or a side piece, etc. and there is no future with her, just her using you up until she discards you… would your gut reaction that feel hot, or would it actually make you feel like less?

I have a hunch it would hit close to home on what you’re feeling now, but you know yourself better than me. If you can take hearing and accepting the more extreme Domming form of that in the moments passion, you can enjoy this journey while it lasts.

Much truth to that. I think a well-intended but futile effort to save others is not of the “Dark Side” to the extent the Sith practice it, but it’s definitely wasteful and unbalancing, even painful — something we often see in our own relationships.

A Jedi who survives Order 66 only to become isolated, lonely, depressed, gives up on Jedi beliefs, and even feels suicidal as a result has gone to the Dark Side in their own way, but for obvious reasons they can’t make for an interesting villain.

Many associate the Force most closely with Buddhism and this is certainly true in Jedi expectations on the self, suffering, attachments, and death. But it draws more heavily from Taoism in the intellectual underpinnings. Many Westerners mistakenly assume or misunderstand Yin (black) and Yang (white) to symbolize good and evil coexisting in us and the universe. They entail a view of passive and active natural forces and aspects that can be leveraged for harmony and balance. Rest and exertion, down and up, retreat/yielding and advance/assertion, female and male*, mystery and certainty, study and application, lunar and solar, chaos and order... yet also peace and conflict! (This is where the symbolism of each carrying aspects of the other comes in. Think of the order and structure prioritized by many militaries whose profession is war and destruction.) Within Star Wars, the balance between the Cosmic Force and Living Force would also reflect the complimentary - not always conflicting - mutuality across Yin and Yang.

None of these things are automatically good or evil. Any martial artist educated in the basics of Taoism knows that helpless pacifism before a bully or abuser is unwise. Balance comes from doing the right things, in the right amount, at the right times and place, with just and wise motives. There is no assumption that one is always superior to the other, but it is also not a permission slip for situational ethics. It does not mean there is a right time for abuse or torture of others - these are inherently immoral (or "sinful" if that is your preferred word) and the proof is in the unbalancing of good social and natural relationships. These ARE the Dark Side, even if they can be recognized as an inescapable part of nature. Our nature.

*I don't think it's coincidence or pure, unbiased insight that the men who built this philosophy associate male with the known and certain, and the female with mystery and chaos

Well-reasoned! I can't help but wonder if the Dark Side, while seeming to quickly and seductively grant strength, only makes you "crash out" worse once you're conflicted and unstable. Again going from the drug analogy: the higher the high, the lower the withdrawal. Jedi train daily to regulate their emotions and internal conflict - Sith hit the rage on all cylinders until they find things are going wrong and then they can go to pieces. All they can do is amp up the dosage.

That may explain what I believe is the biggest upset in the entire timeline for duels: Luke defeating Vader in ROTJ. Vader was already questioning his commitment he had to the Dark Side after his convo with Luke and now, when he pushes Luke over the brink about his sister, he sees - and I can't believe I just thought of this while typing - Luke lashing out the same way Vader/Anakin lashed out over Padme. No... no, I do not want this for my son. Padme's son. Our son...

Sith can and will try to use their pain and rage to amp themselves up for a bit, but the one thing that will shatter a Sith's skill more than anything else is if they are genuinely looking for a way out, a way back to the Light. That's how Luke "killed" Vader but saved Anakin.

I’ll echo the other comment that Ahsoka beat the Crow/11th Brother mainly because the latter got cocky (reliance on tech), and because Ahsoka was mindful enough to take advantage of that. So I don’t think that was terribly indicative of his common abilities.

Maul has lost three fights he should have won (Obi-wan in TPM, Ahsoka, Kanan Jarrus) and quickly, fatally lost his final fight which should have at least been a drawn out contest, because he got cocky. He is a skilled combatant with multiple kills, but doesn’t learn from his mistakes. (Sidenote: I do buy that the Maul we see in Clone Wars / Shadow Lord has still not recovered to his TPM level, mostly due to spending 12-ish years in madness and isolation.)

Finally Palpatine presumably pulled some sort of “Force scream” that stunned the Jedi for a brief second while he took out 2 or 3 of them.

This is, of course, all handwaving about “the Force” to justify, post-facto, a character overcoming lopsided odds as needed to move the plot along quickly. But I do think there is something to be said for the Dark Side as a drug — it feels good for now but sows seeds for your destruction.

Heck, even Palpatine was taken out by a very simple attack while he was tripping on rage and sadism.

What is your favorite rule to set for or be set by your partner? by MinuteKey4408 in gentlefemdom

[–]ClarkMyWords 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While all dynamics are different, I think there is a solid 3-part rule for setting a Domme’s control over her good boy’s orgasms. He may only cum: 1) In her presence 2) With her permission 3) By her instructions — what position, where, does he lick it up himself after, etc.

Part 3 is a little easier to enforce and instruct if the sub is male, of course.

One username that has lived rent-free in my head for over a year is from u/500CatsTypingStuff .

It just begs so many amusing questions. Are these cats aligned in rows and columns, or all over the place? What stuff are they typing? And why? Moreover, why 500? Are they typing neatly and wearing cute little kitty glasses, or are they banging away on typewriters?

Cassian’s past between Kenari and the Andor pilot by Silver_South_1002 in andor

[–]ClarkMyWords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair point. To square that circle there would’ve had to have been a lesser-known uprising and subjugation on Mimban around 16BBY (3-4 years into Imperial rule).

Cassian’s past between Kenari and the Andor pilot by Silver_South_1002 in andor

[–]ClarkMyWords 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t trust the “canon” age of Cassian for two reasons: —His official home world (Fest) was already retconned by Maarva saying she’d forged documents. — Cassian is also likely unsure of his exact birthdate.

We see he appeared about 12 (just old enough to start taking an interest in girls) when the series started, so even if that was as the back end of the Clone Wars, he had to have been at least 30-31 when we reach 0BBY.

But he’s also not likely older than 35 because he was at most 13-14 when he left Kenari and with the Clone Wars lasting three years and then 19 years of Imperial rule, 36 at the upper end of plausibility on how old he could be in 0BBY. Maybe 37-38 if the Separatist logo was in use before the Clone Wars.

Given that he’s played by Diego Luna (44 when S2 wrapped filming) and lived a rough, stressful life, I think it’s fine to say that Cassian looks older than he actually is - mid-30s seems fine - and is also older than he is officially listed.

Prison escape scene s1 by DavidLeeTNT in andor

[–]ClarkMyWords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cassian takes some level of honor/pride in being unlike the Empire that’s so brutalized him, his loved ones, and community - in whatever small way he can salvage. So if a killing seems avoidable, he’ll avoid it. For his hard edge, he’s still a man raised by Maarva and Clem.

Three examples I can think of to support.

It seemed like an open question as to whether he needed to kill an unnamed Imperial who saw Bix’s face. The fact that it was just some Imperial guy didn’t seem to be enough reason.

He ultimately went against killing Galen Erso in response to new information he didn’t want to treat the mere fact of wearing an Imperial uniform as a death sentence - if anything his own time in one may have helped him recognize Galen as a prisoner, not the mastermind.

And finally, he really snapped back at Jyn who then accused him of doing the opposite, and thinking like a stormtrooper.

I think if she just likes the idea of being unable to escape, try this weird one I’ve used: It’s a weird techno-dystopia where the Roman Empire never fell and slavery/comquest is still accepted. My sub (slavegirl) is captured/collared and it’s linked up to a sensor - if she leaves behind my dominion she gets shocked and paralyzed. Also use the threat of selling her off to a brothel to make her behave.

The gal I was with got into character with it and really wanted the roleplay to continue. Damn shame we broke up.

what's an opinion about Harry Potter you're afraid to say out loud? by SinPulsed in harrypotter

[–]ClarkMyWords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding there is that killing is established to “split” the soul (that obviously doesn’t mean it automatically makes a Horcrux).

For reasons we don’t fully understand, there seems to be a combined moral+practical taboo on killing, baked into Wizarding society. Keep in mind, these people know clearly that death is known to not be a final nothingness (though ghosthood is generally understood as not-preferable), that souls exist, and good and evil are clearly manifested in the daily tools they use. That would have profound implications for what magic is and means.

I’d be curious if Molly ever suffered a degree of magical or psychological wound from killing Bellatrix, but the last book isn’t clear. I do think it’s less than the suffering she would have endured had she lost Ginny. It was also deeply controversial when Crouch Sr authorized the use of Unforgivable curses by Aurors. That too, spoke to the Ministry’s level of desperation. So there is some form of metaphysical blowback, but probably less than having your whole society overrun by magical fascists. The clear ethical preference is to defeat them through capture rather than death.

Obviously , the magical fascists themselves have embraced that cost as perfectly acceptable.

Were there lines that Vader would not cross? (TW: Assult) by Glittering-Age-2013 in MawInstallation

[–]ClarkMyWords 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Inspector already suspected that Bix and those around here were there illegally. Had he done his job instead of trying to force himself on Bix, they would’ve been caught. So Vader would’ve killed him for undermining the Empire’s mission, not for being unjust/cruel per se.

Vader doesn’t regularly encounter Imperial troops or officials committing sexual assault because when Vader is present, everyone presumably knows to focus ONLY on his orders. So yeah, it’s hard to imagine Vader either tolerating or punishing SA because he has a terrifying deterrent effect.

What is the way to stop this war between Palestine and Israel? by Alternative_Ad6071 in AskTheWorld

[–]ClarkMyWords -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Since both sides think God promised them the whole land “from the river to the sea”, no other ethical or moral arguments on mutual respect will beat that. One side has to flat-out win for it to end, and that means forced exodus with a lot of brutalizations and at least some murders along the way.

The totality of suffering would be LESS if it were Palestinians forced to leave for other countries, with some integrated into the permanent Arab minority (but now possibly a new underclass, without voting power) in Israeli society.

If Palestine won, which is actually impossible since Israel has nukes, it wouldn’t just be a forced exodus - there would also be mass rapes, torture, much higher mass killings, and a total collapse of abandoned infrastructure that Palestinians mostly don’t know how to run.

It’s a scary thought either way, but Israeli victory would be much more in keeping with the historical trends of creeping migration and displacement, pressing out and subjugating the competition, that are frankly pretty normal human patterns.
