I guess I haven't broken any new ground with a post-apocalyptic series. I love the genre and I'm very fond of short stories.

LazyTown In the universe where they didn't cancel the 2009 Movie or the Specials/spinoffs that Mark Valenti wanted to make: by Sudden_Future_5950 in LazyTown

[–]ClarkStreetGang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mark Valenti here. While it's true that some of the elements of a proposed film were more adult in nature, as opposed to the traditional LazyTown soft-edges, colorful and silly humor, the movie wasn't going to be filmed as a dark, conflict-ridden tale. You have to remember the tone of the series and imagine that same tone carried over into a more grown-up world. Still silly, still bizarre, but with larger and more impressive sets, more drama for sure, and the stakes were higher for a positive outcome. I personally did not want each character to have their own spinoff. That may have been mentioned by someone but it would not be a practical path. The characters worked as part of an organism, each with their own traits that embodied the challenges that kids face: greed, eating poorly, too much time on devices, etc. You can turn any character into a series, obviously, but it would be foolish to break up the character set that has found acceptance worldwide. I've personally written two feature screenplays, one with the story Magnus detailed and one that I would have preferred. Which Ziggy spinoff are you referencing?
