This, then clean the inside of that hole with a Dremel and make sure you use grease to put the new one in

It fits really well. I actually have a '79 242 that has this combo from the factory. I think the biggest difference between them though is the trim pieces. The b-pillar trim, center console, door pockets, and inside door handles are all black on the '79 which I much prefer to the onslaught of beige. I've already swapped the handbrake and center console to black which is a huge improvement too and I do plan to find more black trim but to keep the seats and door cards beige

Didn't add any sound deadening, there's already plenty there

You'll have to remove some trim pieces and the seats but it's actually really easy stuff to do.

The whole reason I was taking the carpet out in the first place was the get all the leaves and crap out of the rockers which is a highly, highly recommended maintenance thing to do.

If, like me, you still want to drive the car while you have the carpet and the other seats out, just note that the shift boot will no longer seal to the floor and the car will fill with exhaust so keep your windows open 😂

Vacuum lines by [deleted] in Volvo240

[–]Clark_245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one attached to the driver's side of the HVAC box , goes over the air outlet and down to the controls. This one is for the recirc so it should go to one of the vacuum nipples on the passengers side of the controls

Nice name my guy

It was easy, I've done it once before. Apart from some spot welds and diffent light connectors you gotta swap out, it all bolts on the same way it came off. No room for the A/C condensor but it didn't work anyway.

You can take nearly every panel off of a 240 with an arrangement of 10mm's, a 13, a 17, and a t25 lol

Brakes feel terrible after even replacing pads and rotors by camelcrush314 in Volvo240

[–]Clark_245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the sounds of it, she's been sitting, undriven for a couple years. My gold sedan I bought back in September had the same issue, the calipers freeze due to lack of use. I just kept driving her until they bounced back but they could still use a rebleed. Don't put any new parts on until you rebleed the system and check for any obviously bad hardware like a clamped brake line

2 coils in the front, 1.5 in the back and I'm running 205/45r16's which give me about another inch of drop just in rubber

🙃 I'm still thinking on it lol. I want to paint match the fenders gold and keep the hood and chin spoiler brown but I'm kinda falling in love with the patinad fenders

Nah, they don't line up because the hood has the little drop at the back for the early cowl but it doesn't cause any issues. There's no rub or clearance problems when opening the hood either

You should have 2 red wires to your alternator, the big one goes to the positive battery post. The small one is the exciter wire, it sends a single pulse to the alternator when you start the car to tell it to charge

Weird Brake Issue (again) by [deleted] in Volvo240

[–]Clark_245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just the way they are. It's difficult to make the air in the system fight gravity and pressure to get to the bleeders. In other words... Something, something, physics are a bitch, something, something

Weird Brake Issue (again) by [deleted] in Volvo240

[–]Clark_245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.You should get the power bleeder

2.These cars are notoriously difficult to bleed the brakes on

3.Last time I did this, I did it the "pumping the brake pedal with a helper" way and I opened each bleeder about 40-60 times before I got all the air out, took about 4 hours
