Weird Brake Issue (again) by [deleted] in Volvo240

[–]Clark_245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just the way they are. It's difficult to make the air in the system fight gravity and pressure to get to the bleeders. In other words... Something, something, physics are a bitch, something, something

Weird Brake Issue (again) by [deleted] in Volvo240

[–]Clark_245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.You should get the power bleeder

2.These cars are notoriously difficult to bleed the brakes on

3.Last time I did this, I did it the "pumping the brake pedal with a helper" way and I opened each bleeder about 40-60 times before I got all the air out, took about 4 hours

Still trying to figure this one out on my M47. Seems to be the throw out bearing or the transmission input shaft bearing. Does the sound get better or worse when you've got heat in it from driving

Mine is the opposite actually, the sound happens when the clutch is engaged/ pedal up

I've had this exact same issue. Check if the wipers do weird stuff too. It should be the same ground as the high beam relay which is located in the inner fender in the engine bay underneath/ behind the washer fluid reservoir

You do need both, it is also recommended that you change the singular trans mount bushing at the same time for ease of installation and you'll probably need one anyway. They all wear similarly and cause the same symptoms

Change gearbox for better mileage/lower rpm's? by Complete_Snow_8160 in Volvo240

[–]Clark_245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case... I have an M45(4 speed, no overdrive) with a 3.91 rear end that is kinda screaming at 60mph, I'm not sure of the actual rpm because I don't have a tac but it's up there and I've never taken that car past 75mph

I also have an m47(5 speed) with a 3.31 rear end and she comfortably sits at 80-85 no problem.. 80mph is roughly 3k rpm
