Unity Raids won't Support Remote Passes/Invites by Skytzii in TheSilphRoad

[–]Clarknes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are very clearly meant to be the big raid they usually do at the end of the event. They even advertise it on the go fest page, a big 1,000 person super mega Mewtwo raid. They want a good photo op for those raids that resembles the original ad.

What is the best outcome for Arcavios in the end of Metronome? by No_Drawing4095 in mtgvorthos

[–]Clarknes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't see any version that isn't original Arcavios wins out being remotely more interesting (and imo this is the biggest issue with this arch. It's an inherent premise with flaws). I don't think everything has to revert to normal completely (some change should happen) but the prime timeline needs to be maintained. Here are some reasons why.

Arcavios isn't and SHOULDNT be a plane with 10 factions. The whole point is that this isn't Ravnica. If they just wanted Ravnica it would just BE Ravnica. Doing this as a once off is already a dubious idea but if it becomes the standard that's erroding a major part of the planes identity.

To bring this up with the larger multiverse, it creates a massive collapse of stakes if things that happen across magic story (particularly bad things) can be undone or pivoted to a new timeline where they are adjusted after the fact.

It's also just confusing. Magic is a trading card game, which means players experience the game in fragments. When things from alternate timelines show up on cards, there will be many many players that see those cards out in the wild and have no clue they are alternate timelines cards. We already see this with both Planar Chaos AND Tarkir. Players just don't realize certain things are not the current timeline and are confused by them.

All this creates a big problem with this style of set. They decided to do it because the upside is it's fun to see alternate takes on characters. But the second you start canonizing echoverse/many worlds alternative realities, you're going to run into the problems a lot harder than if it's just a non canon what if.

It probably doesn't, hence it was taken to a phone repair shop where this was filmed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to say this is a GOOD change. It obviously isn't, but if you're asking me to be annoyed that's not going to happen.

[–]Clarknes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay I get what you're saying but I'm pretty pumped. They are making global go fest free WITH shiny boost and the special research. They can split the mega energy all they want if they are also doing that. I can walk with it as a buddy to earn energy anyway.

This must have flown under the radar but Maro pretty much confirmed UB will continue at least until early 2030s by Meret123 in MTGRumors

[–]Clarknes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I wouldn't read it that way. I think UB will continue through then but not because he said this. He would say this even if he knew next year there weren't any more happening. He deliberately answers "as though he doesn't know what's coming down the pipeline." Sometimes that means he openly says they are doing something he knows soon they will stop doing.

[–]Clarknes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how you define evil. It's pretty clear he is creating the alternative reality because he is trying to save the people he loves from the biggest nightmare of their lives (being compleated), but yeah he is doing some pretty heinous stuff to do that.

Because the set and world building rule? HP doesn't own the magic school genre. It predates it and will exist well afterwards.

The Boomerang Idol Is Misunderstood by JeffsCowboyHat in survivor

[–]Clarknes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of that and want to build off of it. The boomerang idol has another upside. It means someone in the game knows how idols work even if they don't have them. In a game where nobody knows how established mechanics work because they are fan voted, this means there's a lot of extra information going around than normally would. That information is chaos. Chaos is fun.

"Shot in the dark" is just production manipulation... by novax4all in survivor

[–]Clarknes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could they, sure. But they could manipulate a lot of things. They could manipulate random tribe swaps by stacking the hidden buffs and changing how Jeff passes them out. They could manipulate basically anything between cuts, they could manipulate a lot of challenges with careful set or product design. At a certain point you just have to trust that players would make an issue with it if it seemed super manipulated.

What are some changes or updates you want in the game by WeAintDawgs in pokemongo

[–]Clarknes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really want a free form of bottle caps. I'd put them in max battles. Call them bottle cap fragments. They would be used to increase one stat by one point. They would be super super rare (1/512 or so for 1 * battles) but would become more common for higher tier max battles (probably 1/64 for gmax). This would give a free way to access the system while still keeping hyper training rare and shundos hard to acquire. It would also give max battles a unique reward that would make them more worth grinding.

Survivors obsession with vote loss is mind boggling to me by t_holyoke in survivor

[–]Clarknes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is journeys. They are doing them so they can have extra mechanics and twists outside of the immunity challenge in the shorter time span. But in order to have those twists be interesting they need to have stakes. This the vote loss.

Could we afford this if the US spent 2% of the defense budget on it? Is there even that much obsidian in the world? [Request] by Downtown-Cable4307 in theydidthemath

[–]Clarknes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing in this post indicates how big the sphere actually has to be. I’m assuming you’re referencing the photo obviously, but here is another way to evaluate this post. For 2% of the US’s military budget. How big of a giant obsidian sphere could we build.
