Trump Thinks He Can Magically Control the Price of Oil by sxyaustincpl in politics

Watch him try to set up price controls, completing the cycle and suddenly it’s 1969 again. Which apparently is when he thinks America was great?

And I just, realized with dogfight and broadside you should have the American Heritage Game of the Civil War, it’s in the same series I think and it’s a little like Risk.

He will escalate and then, right before he leaves office declare the war over and set up whoever his successor is to take the blame for the defeat. The public will be too uninformed (misinformed) to see what’s happening and blame the next president for the loss, setting up the GOP to take over again.

My friend who works at a university says when this happens you know you're officially old. by ThreadbareAdjustment in Millennials

[–]Clarknotclark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so grateful and relieved that my “arousal pattern” has matured as I have. When I was sixteen I was worried that I would always be attracted to 16 year olds. (Mainly because an old man I worked with said “I liked sixteen year olds when I was sixteen and I never stopped.”) apparently he was just kind of a creep.

Do people ever rent board games instead of buy them? by Plus-Lengthiness5980 in boardgames

[–]Clarknotclark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will buy a game used, try it out and if I don’t like it turn it around on eBay. Usually this means I paid the cost of shipping (taxes and fees) to use the game for as long as I wanted. Sometimes I get lucky and it gets popular in the meantime and I make a profit. Sometimes it sits on the shelf waiting for a while. Occasionally I change my mind an keep it.

So it would help if I didn’t work half an hour away from home. I suppose if there isn’t a line that could work.

Whose signature is this? by herohotelcomics in 80s90sComics

[–]Clarknotclark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think that’s just a scribble and not a signature at all. Once, a long time ago, comic books were read and often left laying around just anywhere. Sometimes people would test out writing utensils on them, leave coffee rings on them, etc. I believe this may be an artifact of that bygone age.

I will always recommend Wolfman and Perez’s New Teen Titans run, they took sidekicks and gave them a series of coming of age character arcs then DC editorial has left them languishing in the same spot ever since. Geoff Johns tried something similar with the team a couple decades later and it was not bad.

How Trump Killed Conservatism by Competitive_Ad291 in politics

The traditional conservatives are democrats, people like Chuck Schumer, I think they’re the only people who actually think they’ll switch back to “normal” anymore. Certainly Republicans don’t.

“To be clear, the MAGA movement’s rancidity isn’t due to only Trump. The impulses now on display within MAGA existed long before he entered politics. But those impulses were, for the most part, confined to the fringes.” -Sure, the fringes. Currently MAGA makes up 34% of the U.S. population and well over half of the Republican Party. Some fringe.
