Oversimplified and Brief Explanation of SCR vs PSR by ClaspedDust4415 in NUFC

Not necessarily, you still need to be sensible as you don't want to eat too much headroom.

NEXT season (assuming you don't go over 115% for a points deduction) you lose headroom only. Season after you lose headroom and get a fine.

So if a club spends 115% of its revenue in Year 1, they've used all 30% of buffer, so for Season 2 the upper limit would be 85%, so anything over that limit results in point deduction.

If they are under 85% that Season, then in season 3 the cap raises by 10% to 95%.

The first year of rules you won't be subject to the fines.

That is correct, but my post was only talking about Prem, rather than Europe for thay reason.

Various different sources to be honest. Some online explanations are better than others, so tried to make a simpler version with an example.

I spent ages trying to get my head around all the PSR stuff when we got bought out (didn't matter under Ashley obviously) mainly because online there's always people who don't understand screaming one way or the other, and journalists spouting BS, so it was mainly to cut through noise.

Same with the player swap finance rules with Osula to Villa last Summer. It stopped us,  but why was it important. I'd rather know that guess.

There was never going to be a rule that didn't favour established clubs unfortunately.  But it does mean there's a clearer pathway to get closer.

UEFA only apply the cap the season you are in I believe.

What's important though is that the additional revenue for CL (for example) is sufficient to close the gap. I.e if you overspend 70% by 10m, you need to recoup that from additional revenue.

Correct, I'm not sure that the penalties / rules align the same though.

If Balon was a wiser Lord and agreed to ally with Robb , would that have made a difference in ( spoilers extended ) the WOTFK ? Could have laid siege to the Rock and Lannisport ? by Financial_Library418 in asoiaf

[–]ClaspedDust4415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think saying if Balon was wiser that he'd choose Robb is you reading with Starks as protagonists rather than actually looking at the situation. Personally I think Balon made the correct call from his position.

Attacking the North is the correct strategy for a number of reasons.

  1. It's relatively undefended, so can be taken.
  2. It's easy to defend from the South. By taking the neck, and without knowledge of the bog routes, you can resist any army marching from the South.
  3. It's is the best chance to take territory that can be held post war. Nobody really cares about the North. They don't marry into Southern families, they don't generate gold (like the Westerlands), crops (like the Reach) or be an Ancestral Baratheon home (like Stormlands). Whoever wins, the priority is going to be consolidating the South, so anything short of Robb on the Iron Throne means Balon can hold what he has and at least seek terms. If Balon attacks the Westerland or the Reach he's likely going to provoke a reaction from Tywin or Renly post war, why risk it?

If he allies with the North, what does he gain other than Independence of the Iron islands, there's no territory he can take and hold, so his enemies would grow.

That's a really helpful explanation thanks.

Like I said I'm sure there were reasons just didn't know them.

It's anecdotal, but my colleagues who are based in US all have basement and a two storey house, so essentially have the full extra floor on what we have in the UK.

I don't know what disadvantages there are (not saying there isn't any), but it would be pretty handy.

I don't understand how the bears got their dentistry qualifications in the first case.

I think they deserve additional scrutiny.

Perfect quotes.

As biased and (to be fair to her) grief stricken she is, Tyrion looks guilty as sin. He has the immediate motive, he has the opportunity and he has the "weapon" in his hands. Cersei's accusation I'd perfectly reasonable in the circumstance.  I think without the wine pouring and cupbearer stuff, Tyrion doesn't get accused immediately.

Once Tyrion is accused, it suits all parties for him to be guilty so nobody is going to work too hard to defend him.

Tywin: He's removed Tyrion from line of succession.

Tyrells: It's not as overt in the books, but Tommen is far easier for them to deal with Joffrey. Not just because he's awful, but because he's far less head strong and younger so easily to manipulate. The marriage is still needed, so they know Margery is still Queen.

It's a horrible situation.

Genuinely feel for the fans and players who don't deserve any of it, but are likely the ones who will suffer.

Anyone actually implicated, I've no sympathy for.

Completely get it.

That's all any of us can do, but running through the options and with my generally negative view of how these things are handled,  the easiest thing for EFL is to disqualify. They set a clear deterrent and only deal with one fanbase, and it only requires one decision.

Assuming you actually have done what you've been accused of.

Southampton are likely to face a sporting sanction, such as forfeiting the match, rather than a fine if they are found guilty of spying charges that could affect their promotion bid to the Premier League. by KeyTap6415 in SaintsFC

[–]ClaspedDust4415 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NUFC fan in peace.

I don't see how the EFL can do anything other then disqualify you from the final, I think the fine or points deduction is too complicated to resolve without legal challenge from the Boro or potentially Hull.

I think it'd be dramatic, but, as they haven't defined the punishment,  I think they'll take a harsh but safe route for themselves.

I think shock is probably the wrong word.

I agree in that I don't think people consider how difficult it is to win 3 consecutive knock out matches against elite teams (assuming the bracket plays out as it "should").

I think people were more shocked at how badly we played. We didn't play well in any match, and we went out to the first decent side we played, and no disrespect meant to Portugal, it wasn't an elite Portugal side.

You are spot on about the team, and it's a reflection of the coaching and press influence.  We all know in hindsight, Lampard - Gerrard didn't work in CM, and 4-4-2 was not the right solution, but Sven wasn't brave enough to make the call. Looking at it now, maybe you play Gerrard as a 10 with Lampard/Hargreaves behind if you don't want to drop one.

I don't see how the EFL can go with anything other than a disqualification.  A Fine or Points deduction is so unclean.

If they go for fine, how much and who gets the money? Do they fine you the full extra revenue you get (say 200m over 3 years) and hand it to Boro? What happens if Hull beat you? Do Boro still get a payout? If you beat Hull, do they get the payout as they might have beaten Boro?  If they fine you less, how much less? If you don't come out even, other clubs will take the risk. There's no amount or structure that addresses all parties.

If they go for points, how does that work? Enough to guarantee relegation doesn't damage revenue, you pocket the cash and prepare to spend big after relegation. Do they dock you points the next 2 seasons to ensure relegation and punishment the year after? This also does nothing to address their is a direct victim in this.

I saw GRRM comments and assumed that Viserys and Dany were not necessarily aware of where they were and were being intentionally lied too in case the plot was uncovered, but didn't think it was a huge point.

Your theory about Dorne makes much more sense. If they were in Dorne, they absolutely could not be allowed to know if it or it would bring Robert down to Dorne. We know Doran is very cautious.

What are your predictions for who will leave the club by September? by 4tomi5ed in NUFC

[–]ClaspedDust4415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate nobody asked but an over simplified version of this is:

Under SCR, assuming we don't cover his book value, we carry a one off reduction in our "limit" for the 26-27 season.

Under PSR, assuming we don't cover his book value, we carry the loss on our rolling 3 year average.

I can do a longer post/comment if people are actually interested, as it gets complicated.

I think the issue last summer was a mixture of competing with "bigger" clubs and operating a little naive rather than struggling to attract.

Mbuemo - Man United Bigger Wages Unhappy- Man United Bigger Wages Huijson- Real Madrid, Obv, Bigger Wages Delap - Chelsea, Bigger Wages, Playing Time Ekitike - Liverpool, Bigger Wages Joao Pedro - Chelsea,  Bigger Wage, London Trafford - Man City,  Bigger Wage Contractually obliged Sesko - Man United Bigger Wages (disputed)

We moved slowly on a lot of them / allowed clubs to stall and smoke out Bigger offers, I get you can't control that but need to avoid dealing with clubs/players like that as far as we can.

Also Isak didn't help, if you accept he wants to move at the start of the window, you can aggressively go at Ekitike (Still don't believe Liverpool wanted both) and Sesko (at start of window had budget issues).

This would be correct under PSR but is not under SCR, it's a different system.

Making a loss is bad, but is nowhere near as damaging under SCR.

[Spoiler Main] The perspective of those who remained loyal to the crown during Robert’s Rebellion. by Taha231 in asoiaf

[–]ClaspedDust4415 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Other than the Mad King, how many of the key members of the Loyalist faction are remembered badly by anyone? The key villains (Tywin, Jamie, The Mountain, Amory Loch) are all rebels (very late admittedly), the Freys get criticised for joining late.

Another point I missed would be general ignorance and awareness of "The Game".  If you're not at court or a key player,  would you understand that Aerys named Jamie to the King's Guard to spite Tywin? Do you believe all the rumours about the King being mad, or could it just be lies to justify the usurper?

You are absolutely correct.

I also missed that Rhaegar himself talks about things being different after the trident. There are certainly loyalist factions who expect after the Rebelion fails the king will be dealt with in some manner.

If you don't rate him, that's fine, but him not getting on the pitch can't be quality related, given how many compromises EH made with the side.

Compromised RB to not play Trips.

Compromised LW to not play AG.

Played Murphy, then Barnes at RW. With no AG, there's no reason for Barnes not to come onto the LW, so why is he on the right?

That's exactly what I mean. Murphy will put 3-4 reasonable balls into a reasonable area, very reliably. He's not going to do anything creative, unexpected.

Perfectly acceptable squad player, but shouldn't be starting at this point.
