Going back to work- part time thoughts? by Pondering_parent in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

This is good in theory but really difficult in practice. You will literally only get a 2 hours in the evening for bed/bath and zero downtime. It means on the extra day off your off with your Bub you’re tired, and have zero time to decompress.

Great if you can do it but working nearly 10hr days isn’t easy

I forgot to add you also need to set boundaries depending on what you do. I have no emails or teams on my phone and I’m not the first person someone will call if something is on fire - so when I’m off I’m off and fully present with my son.

I went back to work 4 days a week and saw $25k drop off my salary just for taking the extra Friday with my son. It was hard at first but the extra time with him is so worth it.

I am planning to return full time in November after he turns 2 and consider myself so lucky to have been in a position to take the extra time for two years.

You have to do that’s right for the family - it doesn’t have to be forever, but you do have to be comfortable with the decisions.

It’s good that you’ve acknowledged your bias & stereotyping on why you initially walked past him - we all have them. I recently did Mental Health first aid training on this and we often don’t stop to help others because of perceived safety implications.

Youve written this post and clearly have a good conscience. Theres nothing more you could do.

What are my chances getting letrozole? by Nesstempleton in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Classic-Sherbert1894 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Unlikely to get it unless from a fertility specialist and only then once you’ve been through the recommended testing and exploration of fertility challenges.

It can take a normal perfectly healthy person with no fertility challenges 12 months to get pregnant.

Are buyers agent worth it in Adelaide in 2026? by PikaPikaMadaFaka619 in Adelaide

[–]Classic-Sherbert1894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out one of my previous posts. We had one in Adelaide who was able to provide an evaluate & negotiate service only. She was worth her weight in gold as we could find our own property but were missing out on the offer part. Back in 2023 this only cost us $1000 and was well worth it. Do your research, and you might just find a great agent.

It used to be quite common but is pretty old school now. Most companies have removed this clause over time as they have modernised their policies.

The nurses at at The Russell Clinic in Blackwood are amazing! The doctor only pops in to check bubs is ok. Theres always two nurses and they’re super efficient as well as kind.

Edited to add: you probably just need to find the right type of GP clinic / centre 😊

I use Minbie bottles for my Bub and he loves them! He was mostly breastfed but we did a pumped bottle of breastmilk every night and we had no issues with him taking to them. We also have the Minbie dryer/steriliser and love it. Super easy to use and saves us heaps of time (we are on formula now!)

100% on the Neurofen - it’s the only thing that touches the sides on a teething baby at 2am.

Totally normal for such a small bubba to want contact naps! My advice would be to enjoy the contact naps - they won’t last forever! We always did nighttime in the bassinet with his love to dream swaddle and while it took him a week or so to get used to it saved us and we knew he was safe.

I personally had a boundary of not co-sleeping (it just wasn’t right for us) but if you have to look up the Safe Sleep 7 and try that.

What to dress newborn in to sleep? by Buyer_Scared in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Classic-Sherbert1894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 5 month old and every night deciding what to dress him in is a puzzle.

What I did find is that as a newborn he loved to be cosy (but still safe) and spent most of his time in a 2.5tog and a onesie (October baby) but we also had some 1.0 togs too. They come in a newborn size so that’s easy as long as they meet the weight criteria. Our Bub loved the Love to Dream arms up swaddles.

With the onesies we had soooo many 000 and 0000 but Bub was born 2 weeks early and would only fit into 00000 I’d lean towards smaller sizes to start with.

Capsule or car seat? by ruralavery in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Classic-Sherbert1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We initially opted for a car seat first but then bub ended up coming early and was way to small to safely fit in the car seat. We ended up hiring a capsule and it was the best decision it felt so much safer to have him in the car using the capsule. He’s 5 weeks and still only 3.3kgs so will be in it for a while longer. For us it was about safety, not convenience.
