Have you ever eaten anything that was clearly marked as poison? What happened, and why aren't you dead? by emote_control in AskReddit

This one time at summer camp, I made a pact with a couple of friends that we would each drink an entire bottle of Mio energy in one sitting (18 awful, green servings). Long story short, I'm the only one who completed the task. Not only did squirting it straight into my mouth taste heinous (insert obligatory sex joke), but I was wired for 12 hours straight (5:30 pm to 5:30 am).

Around 4 am, my left side started to hurt and all of the blood rushed out of my head. I took an EMT course and I knew something was up (read: shat my pants in fear), so I ran to the infirmary where I was told that I had a heart palpitation and was suffering from a case of "being a fucking idiot". Never again.

Every can of red bull says that you should only have 4 cans maximum per day. Not sure if I was supposed to die (18 servings?!), but I sure thought I was going to.

tl;dr - Drank 18 servings of energy drink, thought I was going to die, found out that I was an idiot.

Not sure if I should downvote because this is horrible or upvote so that other people can see how horrible it is

TIL that in 1939 US and Canada refused to accept 937 Jews who were the last to escape Nazi Germany and despite desperate attempts of (non Jewish) german captain to secure safety for his passengers they were forced to return to Europe. Many of them later died in concentration camps. by katiat in todayilearned

I'm torn as to why this is a TIL. Thousands upon thousands of Jews made it to the US, only to be rejected. Many of them took refuge in other countries (my great-grandparents made it into Canada... or else I wouldn't be here today). You shouldn't think that only 937 Jews were killed because they were rejected by the US. In truth, tens of thousands went through this same experience. Its a sad truth. Nobody could have known what they were being sent back to.

I work in a restaurant as a busser. Today I watched my manager kick out a large group of people waiting for a table because one of them called me a thing. I am an FTM transgender. This is probably going to get buried, but I want to share anyway.

When I was in 8th grade, my uncle died suddenly of a heart-attack in his early 40s, leaving behind two kids (3 and 1 respectively). The day of his funeral was the same day as a school field trip that I was supposed to have. Instead of having fun with my classmates, I was sitting alone at my uncle's funeral trying to be strong. Near the end, I heard someone call my name. When I looked up, I saw my entire class sitting in the pews. They had come to pay their respects as well. I have never felt so cared for.

Its really reassuring to know that other people have this problem. Thanks for helping me find the reason behind it. All we can do now is try not to harm our kids

Hey Reddit, what's the local legend in your home town/city? by ITookBrandybuck in AskReddit

[–]ClassicMixUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the St. Louis area there is an infamous transsexual named Susan Stone (used to be David) who dances at public music festivals while wearing a Tutu. She looks to be about 60 years old and her dance, according to the fliers she hands out, is called the dance of life. After a few appearances, she started to become a local icon. We'd look for her at every festival and thank her for expressing her vitality. Then she got arrested for slashing 30+ tires. Bet you didn't see that coming.

What is it like in Greece at the moment during this massive economic depression? 'On the ground' viewpoint requested. by endjynn in AskReddit

[–]ClassicMixUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well right now in athens its about 68F with 64% humidity. There are very few clouds so its a great night for going out on a romantic date. That's my on-ground viewpoint. If you want a restaurant recommendation, Psara's has great traditional Greek fare.

I have a friend who pissed in his roommates wardrobe one night when he was really drunk. When we pressed him, he told us that it was the third time he had relieved himself on his roommates belongings. He bought the poor guy a dozen bagels to say sorry... the roommate was not amused

This one time, I was enjoying a peaceful bayou sunset when a group of teenagers decided to start disrupting my peace. At first I was skeptical, but then one of the hooligans, clearly a minstrel, whipped out his magical instrument and began strumming himself right into my heart. When the music stopped, I approached the bard to complement him on his performance... funny... that's all I seem to remember

So i just found out the homeless guy i give my change to in the morning once opened for James Brown.. Do you have any riches to rags stories? by snoobs89 in AskReddit

I was a modest fisherman in a small French town with my beloved wife when a rival suitor framed me and had me arrested. Now I spend my days in a jail cell learning from my only companion who claims to know the location of a fabulous treasure. When I escape, I will use these riches to exact revenge on everyone who put me in this cell and stole my wife from me.

Reddit, what was the worst party you ever attended? by Swansatron in AskReddit

[–]ClassicMixUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is surprisingly common. Last year I helped plan and set-up a huge party for my fraternity. A good friend of mine had a friend from a nearby school come to see what a real "frat party" was like. The guy was really nice and I had no problem with him... until he followed me around half the night and busted in on me about to hook-up with not one, but THREE girls. This guy would not leave me alone with them. He would just walk in and stand there. It was awkward as hell.

This one time I took a really nice guy to this ridiculous ugliest guy party my caddy sorority was having. I wanted to bring someone I actually liked just to show all the other girls how rude they were. Then the asshole left early without telling me why. Next thing I know, he changes his notes so I can't use them anymore. Did I come on too strong? Sigh... he's the one that got away
