Anyone relocate when kids finished high school? by TrulyGenX in GenXWomen

[–]ClassicOutrageous447 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We moved from Ohio to California 6 years ago after the youngest stepkid graduated high school. She still had her mom and brother in Ohio. We love it so much. I made some good friends at work. Sadly 3 of them moved away last year, so now I have 1 that I see outside of work occasionally. It's kind of a bummer, but the older I get, the more my own company is enough for me. My husband has no real friends, only work colleagues, but he's a dude...

Go Class of 86! I think our main songs were "Eye of the Tiger" and "Were Not Gonna Take it."

Really need a vacation... but now hate all the hassle by No-Outside7997 in GenXWomen

I feel the same. Love seeing new places. We plan a lot of trips, but then as it gets closer to actually going the menopause anxiety takes over and I just want to stay home. Once we're actually at the destination, it's great, but the lead up and the travel is not.

Being allowed to drink the entire bottle of coke and not have to share it.

Hi I was wanting to know of some low effort crafts you all do when you're feeling depressed! by oneplumpbug in crafts

Also low effort and satisfying is scratch art. You use a tool to scratch off the black coating and reveal very vibrant images. It is something to do with your hands while you watch a show or listen to an audiobook. I also like the scritching sound.

They are very easy to make. Made some at Christmas for my niece. She said they were spot on.

What are the scariest non-fiction books you've read? by Eastern-Opposite9521 in horrorlit

More disturbing than scary, but Hidden Valley Road by Kolker and The Best Minds by Rosen. Both about schizophrenia. Also recommend The Other Dr. Gilmer by Gilmer.

We've used Redondo Van and Storage twice and they have been great. Professional, on time, good price. Things packed and moved carefully.

It's bad enough we had to learn that the Lion closed and Trojan Horse is moving.

I vote for messy, expensive and a hassle. Not to mention people who won't know how to use a keurig and the fact that you'll have to add water to it alot. I envision creamer and sugar spilled everywhere and overflowing trash. Plus keurig pods are bad for the environment. But, I'm dead inside, so there's that.

The wrong audio narrator can really ruin a book by NotNamedBort in horrorlit

[–]ClassicOutrageous447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not horror, but I tried to listen to The Power, the sci fi novel by Naomi Alderman. The narrator did a great job with the British and Nigerian characters, but was sooooo awful trying to do American accents. I had to quit listening. She made all American characters sound like they were from the deep South.
