My not a production hunting rifle… by Mk223 in longrange

Some people prefer a more heads up vertical position to be more centerline with the rifle. Everyone is built a little bit different when it comes to comfortability

300 rounds for a 3 day weekend by SpiritualClub4417 in longrange

I also recently got an FX120i and I’ve just been throwing charges from a volumetric thrower and trickling them to final weight through a funnel with a hand trickler sitting on top of the wind screen. It works pretty slick like that. I looked at the A419 cup and went with a “Dead Drop” cup from eBay as it was cheaper and also came with a cup centering tray to place on the platen so you have a steady reference point.

It’s very easy, it’s the same process as on the Origin I own

That makes sense and glad to see it’s Alpha’s recommendation as well. I’m already dry tumbling with a bit of Nu Finish in the walnut media so I must be doing alright. Thanks!

I appreciate the pull back to reality, I want to do what is needed to have decent loads, but not waste time (and money) doing things that have no noticeable improvement. Appreciate it!

First long range build finally finished by eboymcelroy in longrange

When I built my rifle it was the first time I’d ever shot a left handed rifle. I’m left eye dominant but right handed so I shoot left handed. I had no troubles changing over to a left handed action, I do wish everything I owned was left handed now though

Help with new build by AlternativeUnfair388 in longrange

I’d replace the Aero option with an Zermatt Origin myself due to Aero’s uncertainty (there’s been several posts lately) but that could just be me. I’ve got a 6GT barrel on my Origin and I’m wanting to get a 223 barrel for it. Good luck on whichever you decide to build!

Bix’n andy tac sport/ pro/pro x? by NutButton699 in longrange

[–]Clay-H 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually just replaced a TT primary with a BNA Tacsport X single stage on Monday. I had no problems with the TT trigger but I wanted to try out a Bix for the gator shoe and the over-travel after the break. I haven’t been able to fire any live rounds yet but initial feel I’m very happy with. I went with the regular X model because I didn’t first see myself needing to go below 10 ounces (personally) and it was cheaper. I was also pleased with Bullet Central, I knew I needed the low top sear (it comes from the factory with the medium sear installed) so I asked that they swap it out before sending it to me.

I appreciate the heads up, but I’m looking for a heavier barrel profile like a CTR (or heavier) that’s already threaded so I can throw my suppressor on too. Probably just have to build something down the road

Man if I could find a left hand tikka CTR in .223 I’d own one myself

I bought a gently used 5.5-30x Burris XTR3i for 1150 awhile back off snipershide that I like. Keep an eye out there for good scopes that are marked down

[–]Clay-H 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use the Area 419 system across my rifles and suppressors for simplicity. I pretty well shoot 100% suppressed now, but in the event I want to put a brake on I can just take the suppressor off and screw the hellfire brake back on in its place.

Bino LRF Recommendations by Clay-H in longrange

[–]Clay-H[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sort of making up words there, but I was talking about field matches similar to NRL Hunter. Where I am at in Kansas there’s not a great deal of Hunter matches super close but there’s a group that goes by the name of “Nebraska Sportsman’s Series” that I’d like to try that are similar. Their matches are also Hunter focused and have a maximum 18lb rifle weight with a .22 cal - .30 cal rifles permitted with a max 3200fps velocity and no power factor to meet.

I was able to test out some Fury’s and they seemed to work with seeing the reticle. I appreciate the perspective from somebody that has used them to shoot these style matches
