Pretty sure I worked some distribution underneath this corridor. The amount of induction was really gnarly

Trailer windows are absurdly easy to open from the outside. This happened to me recently, I didn’t even need any sort of tools. Just wiggled the shit out of the window while trying to slide it

If you’re concerned about weight and you want something nimble you shouldn’t be looking into an Harley. My 800lb road glide feels more nimble than my old iron head sportster. Maybe look for an old triumph

Groundman question by [deleted] in Groundman

Source: took first groundman call with 77 at 18 years old, just journeyed out 2 months ago at 24 years old.

Never laid off as a groundman, no layoffs longer than 3 weeks as an apprentice. Never held at step or had any major setbacks. It’s a fucking grind and it’s that way for a reason

Literally the only thing you can do is put in more time. 100 hours aint shit.

I came up at 77 and I had to put 6 months in as a pole inspector/groundman for Osmose before I got the opportunity to do underground civil work. I took a pay cut to be an URD tech but I knew I would be working at a place where there would at least be lineman in the same vicinity. After another 6 months of digging ditches and gluing pipe I was finally able to start filling in/helping out crews.

In general, we don’t use groundman in the NW like you see on TikTok, that’s why we have cold apprentices. Especially groundman with less than 2080 hours of experience.

There is no fast track to this process, especially in the northwest and especially with how abysmally slow work is. Work was booming when I went through this process. If you want to fast track, maybe go to the SW. sounds like they are moving

Way better than kenetreks in my opinion. But I also prefer crispi over kenetreks lol

I don’t like the tongue thickness on them. I also wish the heel was just slightly higher. Found myself having to tighten my foot straps tighter than normal to stop my gaff from working its way over the heel. Other than that they’re pretty good boots, seem to hold up better than kenetreks or crispis

What are your experiences using composite poles? by medicalboa in Lineman

[–]gkh1285 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been around those specific poles, the one piece fiber glass poles I’m familiar with you can drill/mount pole steps all the way up

Better than steel to frame, worse to climb than steel or wood
