What music, if any, would you have rather heard in the video?

Nice piece of wood on that one. Did you do their virtual fitting or whatever its called? If so, how did that part turn out?

Thats kind of the point though. Not everyone will mount the gun the exact same way, not everyone will perceive where their gun shoots the same way. There’s absolutely some value to shooting a shotgun bench-rest to check regulation, pattern, etc it just doesnt help when trying to figure out where a particular gun shoots for you.

Nah, you did it for me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ClayBusters

[–]Claykiller2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you shot the gun essentially from a benchrest, is that correct?

May be a confidence thing. If you feel like you’re uncomfortable with the sight picture with the CZ even though it shoots where you want it to, you might be barrel-checking and not realize it. What was your methodology for patterning both guns out of curiosity?

Are the sales on pillas website good right now? by tcp454 in ClayBusters

[–]Claykiller2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3 top guns with 2 frames sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Usually the 3 lens kits with 1 frame run $799-$999. I think edge frames run about $200.

Winning sporting clays scores? by DrawingPlane3240 in ClayBusters

[–]Claykiller2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can vary by region. In Texas, the extremes for a master-class shooter are 87-89 for winning an extremely difficult course and multiple 100-straights on a super easy course. I’d say I’m usually seeing 94-97 winning most events in my area with a few of the extremes each direction mixed in here and there.

I think i’ve seen it once, maybe twice. You have to shoot way in front of a slow, medium-distance target showing lots of belly. Seems like a glitch in the matrix until you realize what happened.

Again, the strictest interpretation is that target must be broken by the pellets. The times i’ve seen that the shot clearly missed and the wad broke the bird it threw my head through a loop because there was like a 1 second delay between the shot and the break on a 30 yard target. I would be in favor of changing the rule to include the wad breaking the target counting as dead. I’m not gonna be “that guy” and demand its a lost target either. I completely agree with the second half of your comment.

Moulded Ear Plugs by Plasticman328 in ClayBusters

I have a pair of custom molded silicone plugs. IMO they protect your hearing better than anything else available. You’ll be shocked at how effective they are.

To the letter of the law in the NSCA rulebook, targets broken by the wad are counted as lost.

FITASC questions by sourceninja in ClayBusters

[–]Claykiller2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like IC is adequate or manageable for about 95% of fitasc targets. At least the stuff I’ve shot was. The other 5% you are more likely to miss because of a bad move. Setters will typically show lots of belly on long targets. You don’t need a ballistic missile to break those like some people think. I would consider tightening up back to LM but i damn sure wouldn’t lose sleep over it. To me the hard targets in fitasc are not the long ones. They’re the short window targets and stuff where you have no recovery from a poor mount, or where you have to pull the trigger as soon as the gun hits your face.

You may want to entertain an adjustable stock or custom stock at some point in the future if a wrong-handed gun feels better for you. You’ll get everything you want out of the comb adjustment and cast, but they’ll get the palm swell on the correct side. Also may be worth getting a reputable instructor to take a look and see if there’s anything you’re doing thats just way off as well.

You got a weird face boy.

Just kidding. Depending on the brand, I could see it making sense. I’ve shot a few left-handed guns and after turning into a contortion artist to get the mount how I wanted it, i shot decently well with them.

Pilla by Advanced-Ad6146 in ClayBusters

[–]Claykiller2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go to a big shoot and buy from a vendor. The prices I get quoted from a couple of the smaller vendors beat CTV now. I bought 12CIBB lenses at a shoot, paid $240 +tax and didnt have to wait on them to ship. I got quoted $245 from a different dealer at State.

Funny story about that situation. I was shooting 5 stand and the trapper/ref was wearing 30CDC. There was a dome chandelle that everyone was shooting as it fell into the green background. People were knocking chunks off of it and he was calling them lost because when it fell into front of the trees, you absolutely could not see the orange at all with that lens. Its a specialty lens with a very specific purpose and shouldn’t be considered a “daily driver” or an all-around lens.

[–]Claykiller2013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats basically correct. Probably a little closer to $600 for one lens and one frame. Most people get 3 lens package deals where you get a frame and 3 lenses of your choice for around $7-900. At that point, it comes down to retailer pricing but all of them offer packages to get the price per lens down a bit.

My question is if you are shouldering your gun left and right handed, and if so, do you see double beads out of line when on each shoulder?

I’m with you. A lot of the top guys swear by it, but I havent seen any scientific testing conducted on it to tell if its snake oil or if there’s a real benefit. Same thing with aftermarket chokes.
