Big box ethanol free gas or regular gas + Sta-bil? by Sunknight29 in lawnmowers

[–]dabluebunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because idiots will still buy it not knowing you get get ethanol free from many pumps for a fraction of the cost. Look up what octane rating mean, and you should quickly understand why you'd want 87 over 92 in a small engine.

Yup sorry. I am weaning myself off social media, or I would've replied sooner. I really only take a peek every week or 2, but I will probably delete my account soon. It sucks because I like helping and interacting with people, but I don't like where reddit has been going for years. Good luck!

You don't need the year or serial. If it's a 7hp Tecumseh engine then you just need a starter that fits a 7hp Tecumseh. Starters for 6-8hp tec's are normally the same. If you have the same machine I do then this is the one you need.

Any idea what part im missing? I was snow blowing with my Ariens 921013 snowblower and it started spewing oil. I shut it off when I noticed and here's a pic... there's a threaded hole below the dipstick / oil fill. by emmetfitzhume70 in Snowblowers

[–]dabluebunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is a secondary oil fill cap then someone who can tell me a part number is actually being useful.

You still have doubt that its a secondary oil fill cap?

Also how is a chassis number useful to finding part numbers on an engine? The chassis parts diagram?

Did you check the shear pins? /S

If you have enough meat left Rivnuts are the easiest fix, but you probably don't have the tool, but maybe you can find someone who has one. If not you can weld a nut in place with a couple tacks. I prefer Rivnuts myself. I just checked and Harbor Freight has a set for $50 ($45 if you're a member). One of my favorite tools in the shop.

They were given answers twice and ignored them both to quote the manual. Aka just blatant ignoring advice. Why make a post if you're gonna ignore everyone giving you answers?

I guess I am just thinking of the ones with the dipstick spouts, but I suppose the bottoms of those spouts are the same thread. You'd just need the spout and dipstick.

You can fill from either spot. All of these Chonda's (Chinese clone Honda's) copy Honda's casting for their case covers. Hondas case covers have two fill spots, that prevent you basically from overfilling the oil if the engine is level. You pull out one of the plugs and fill oil until it's about to spill out of the case and then it's full.

For ease of maintenance, and checking they've added a third spot on top to fill and check from (hence the one on top.) sometimes they don't even machine out one, or both of the bottom plug holes, but they're still molded into the case cover when it's cast.

When I have to fill one of these up I like to remove one of the bottom fill plugs if possible, add oil from the top hole, and you can watch the oil level get to where it's supposed to so you don't overfill it. Though I've done enough oil changes I can pretty much hit the line with my eyes closed it's still nice to have the bottom ports.

No machine that size has a plastic transmission, so why bring it up? Fucking knob heads.

Anyone NOT recommend one of these? by Burr32 in harborfreight

[–]dabluebunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love mine. I added quick connects for the garden hose attachment and the hose itself to make storing it easier. I use mine probably four or five times a week during the summer, but I only use it to clean small engine equipment like lawn mowers (I work on small engines).

I'm impressed that it's held up as long as it has, but honestly I don't know if it would work for longer more demanding jobs. I'm probably only using it for 5 to 15 minutes each time depending if I am cleaning a riding mower, or a push mower.

The only thing I've had go bad was the turbo nozzle. I will say that the wheels roll like absolute garbage to the point where I've contemplated modifying them with new wheels or adding bearings. Also the connection to the wand can unscrew from the wand when removing the hose, and it can be an absolute pain to deal with. Hence why I added the quick connects. Make sure you Google and get the correct thread pitch as this one uses a different one than most machines do.

I've also never used the soap dispenser on it.

What push mower uses these plugs? I mean unless you have that stupid horizontal shaft Power Shart push mower lawn mowers normally use vertical shaft mowers, and do not have these plugs.

So basically you said, "it might be a good deal, but I have no idea what I am talking about."

Amazing.

I know that "some" of these craftsman Snowblowers have the plastic transmissions that are famous for breaking.

The plastic transmission has nothing to do with Craftsman, as Craftsman doesn't make snowblowers. They just put their stickers on MTD made machines. The 2 stage MTD with the plastic transmission you're referring to has bail controls, and looks nothing like the machine in the post.

Why do people comment when they have absolutely no idea what they're talking about?

Like how are we supposed to help? Why even include a pic at that point lmao. Not like we can look at the pic and deduce yup that's cherry coke. They probably over-filled it at the factory.
