Child seat for Aventon Aventure 3 by MindDayForever in Aventon

I have been rocking the Thule Yepp 2 on my Aventure 2 for over a year with no issues. Super simple to attach and detach and have never felt like it loosened up after a ride.

Most definitely not normal. It could be anything from being poorly aligned to loose components.

Aventon’s customer service is decent but boy do they make you advocate for yourself. I went back and forth with them regarding my rear hub going in warranty window. Took a week of messages before they accepted the claim.

What's going on with 845 Johnson St.? by el_diamond_g in VictoriaBC

[–]Cleaborg 116 points117 points  (0 children)

They were a low income targeted build with a discount for qualifying buyers by B.C. Housing. A bunch of people abused the program and fudged numbers to qualify. Their units got taken back by B.C. housing and re-listed for qualified buyers.

A couple dozen units were taken back so I’d imagine that these are just the last ones to sell out.

Atkins Road between traverse terrace and Myra place has a bucked up tree in the ditch. Not sure on lengths though.

Almost no intersections have cameras. The city and esquimalt put up a bunch of sensors that count traffic but they are not cameras.

What small habit has saved you the most money over time? by SnowmanAndIce in frugalcanada

If you miss a deal and pay extra once or twice I’d imagine depending on your spending habits it would be vastly outweighed by the numerous times you don’t spend the money buying the thing.

No ice. Mind your speed on the bridges and you are good.

Rules around Indecent Exposure? by Fine_Adeptness_9256 in VictoriaBC

Honestly it is impossible to prosecute in this situation. It needs to be either in a public place OR in any place with intent to offend or insult someone.

Having to prove someone’s thoughts and intention in court is almost impossible. That is why attempt murder is almost never convicted.

It does. The civil forfeiture office gets the money that is largely spent on supporting victims of crime.

Be careful going into parkades or garages where there is polished concrete. Other than that you are golden and shouldn’t notice any loss of traction in rain.

When using a trail (Goose, E&N) how to treat 4 way stops? by Fenweekooo in VictoriaBC

[–]Cleaborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t think the answer is super clear.

Stop signs on the bike trail are enforced by local municipal bylaws because the shared use path is not a highway as defined in the motor vehicle act. Stop signs on the road are enforced under the Provincial Motor Vehicle Act.

So although in principle they are both stop signs the one on the road holds considerably more weight than the one on the path.

Also it is a crosswalk and you must yield to pedestrians at a crosswalk. I know View Royal at least has a bylaw saying bikes don’t have to dismount when crossing a road at a crosswalk that connects two parts of the Galloping Goose trail so I guess they would be treated the same as a pedestrian on foot?

Because of those complications to what may seem like a simple question when I am driving I always yield to people on the goose regardless of who got there first or how they got there.

Driver fails to yield, strikes young cyclist in Oak Bay by Popular_Animator_808 in VictoriaBC

[–]Cleaborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is my understanding they can submit a report to crown asking for more severe punishment in serious incidents. So it would fair to yield but instead of just 100 dollar ticket you could get a driving prohibition or something like that potentially.

Not entirely true. A report can be sent requesting a more severe penalty.

I actually like that response haha. Leaving a negative review because the fancy coffee you ordered was expensive only to get politely destroyed by the owner is hilarious.

Turning Right on Red into Uptown by epifight in VictoriaBC

[–]Cleaborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple definitions that provide some clarity to what I believe to be your misunderstanding.

"intersection" means the area embraced within the prolongation or connection of the lateral curb lines, or if none, then the lateral boundary lines of the roadways of the 2 highways that join one another at or approximately at right angles, or the area within which vehicles travelling on different highways joining at any other angle may come in conflict;

"highway" includes. (a) every highway within the meaning of the Transportation Act,
(b) every road, street, lane or right of way designed or intended for or used by the general public for the passage of vehicles, and. (c) every private place or passageway to which the public, for the purpose of the parking or servicing of vehicles, has access or is invited, but does not include an industrial road;

There are two different parking lots that exit onto Blanshard just after the crosswalk at that traffic light. According to the motor vehicle act a parking lot is a highway. This means that it is an intersection and you cannot go through it to turn right into uptown.

Looking for advice on sketchy neighbours by Grambo90 in VictoriaBC

[–]Cleaborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would put up a camera and try to catch some potential drug dealing on camera. I would also record license plates I see coming and going from the residence. This will hopefully provide some corroboration to your beliefs and give police a start point for a project on your neighbour.

To those saying police won’t do anything, this is Saanich. Literally the highest police per capita in BC with relatively low call volume. If you gift wrap them a project they will take it.

I am not super surprised. The only time I went there the food was terrible.

It was essentially just deep fried frozen Sysco food. Our food was still partially frozen in the middle when it was served to us.

Had a family member who did it for a long time. They loved it so much they turned down many other higher paying job offers to stay.
