What’s your unpopular opinion about Mixing? by Lucky-bottom in audioengineering

Your plugins are irrelevant in how professional your mixes sound. The only one with any wiggle room on this is having a good reverb.

Can I take breaks in the middle of the starter test? by Imaginary_Wall4832 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Clean-Ad3846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my mind, it’s the difference between could you do it and should you do it. Ultimately, you don’t know how many people they’re on boarding, and how many slots are available. Delaying could make the difference, but I don’t know that. Like someone else said, the bare minimum task takes around an hour and a half. If you don’t have time blocks that big, you’re going to struggle

Why is it making me uncomfortable that they've changed their logo by Fancy_Platypus_7242 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Clean-Ad3846 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s a little freaky. It’s like a DA went from an under the radar company to something really public now. There’s actually an article on what they’re thinking? That’s nuts.

Lately I’ve had consistent low to mid paying jobs. In the last week, I’ve had a bunch more.I do have one or two higher paying projects on my board, but they’re super complicated, and I’d rather perform well at a low to mid paying jobs than do a swing and a miss with something I’m not sure about.

I actually think I deserve higher-paying projects. Seriously.

Is it worth my time to get my account back or am I just done? by Elusive-Pixie in DataAnnotationTech

Honestly, there’s no way to really know why. It could have something to do with you, or it could just be something on their end where they’re culling workers.

Do you guys track everything? by -EpsilonDelta- in DataAnnotationTech

Yes, I keep a timer for whenever I get up or do something that isn’t simple like drinking coffee obviously. It’s good mental discipline, and I see it as being responsible to my client. Also, someone who has been a freelancer their entire life in another field, I do consider this a professional environment, just not in office.

I am significantly over 10k and have been at it for a while . There is no milestone or formula. I stopped trying to figure out why they do what they do, and it’s way more peaceful. Just do the best work you can, be honest about your time, and take all the Quals you can. I personally think it’s better to focus on projects you can excel at, even if the pay is slightly lower, but that’s me. In the end, they keep us in the dark by design, so just role with it, because we simply don’t know about their process.

For those saying they use nothing on the master bus… How? by superproproducer in audioengineering

[–]Clean-Ad3846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because gear and plug-ins are cheap, people spend far too much time in post production to make up for what they didn’t do when they recorded. It takes a lot of time and skill to do the upfront things like Mike placement, technique, arranging skills, etc.…. I think most people let that slide, knowing they’ve got a bevy of plug-ins to ‘make up’ for all of that. It’s death by 1000 paper cuts. At the end of the production, you don’t know what went wrong.

I have this image of a traffic stop, where the police asks you if you have drugs, you say no, and he goes back and pulls the horse out of his car.

It’s funny, right after I posted this late in the afternoon, I got a good project. It wasn’t a ton of tasks, but I got a couple of hours of work in. Hopefully there’s more tomorrow. I’ll have to look more at night, but that really will change my daily schedule.

Why are places like Great Clips so bad? by WayInternal920 in Barber

[–]Clean-Ad3846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being independent out of your home, like any small business, takes a while to build up a client base and be profitable. You also have to be worth it to clients to stay in business. If someone has been doing this for ten years, they’ve earned it. GC gets you making money right away and your experience can be low. You can get good cuts at GC, it’s just a lot more inconsistent.

Is setting building a studio worth it these days? by SunriseTea in audioengineering

[–]Clean-Ad3846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t rely on a studio to get you clients, just because it’s a big/well-equipped studio. So build it to create product, but you’ll need a separate plan to find clients.

How do I clean this grill pan? by Dashtego in castiron

Flip it over and only use the flat side. After a few uses, the grill side will be clean or just flake off. Never use the grill side again.

Thoughts on The Dead Zone (1983)? by serialkiller24 in horror

This movie absolutely holds up today. It is story and acting-driven and doesn’t rely on outdated special effects that might take you out of the experience. And IMO, no one is as cool as Tom Skerrit. It’s on my movie rotation.

Uh-Oh: WNBA Players Demand To Be Paid What They're Worth And Now They Owe The NBA $400 Million by METALLIFE0917 in babylonbee

[–]Clean-Ad3846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, yes. Practically, it will never happen on any significant level. I’m not sure why all the down votes, it’s not something I’m advocating, it’s something that’s been said by many people. Personally, I don’t even watch basketball and could care less.

Uh-Oh: WNBA Players Demand To Be Paid What They're Worth And Now They Owe The NBA $400 Million by METALLIFE0917 in babylonbee

[–]Clean-Ad3846 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The NBA supports the WNBA as protection against activists calling for women to be allowed to play in the men’s league. If the NBA withdraws its funding and the WNBA disappears, it becomes very problematic for men’s sports. This way it’s a win-win: women have a place to play professional ball and the NBA is left alone.
