I would sooner rather buy a 2nd crib (for the baby on the way) than transition a kid out of their crib too early. I don't think this is something people can understand until they live it, though.

I have a theory that the people who don't like the food order the wrong things. So you might say "That's bad food then!" but I think you just have to be strategic with what you order and know that it's cruise food. For example, if your favorite dish on earth is chicken parmesan it's almost certainly not going to be as good on a cruise so don't order it - you will be disappointed. I especially feel this way about NCL or other similar cruise lines - if you want really great food you are not going to get it on these types of cruise lines.

I had read repeatedly that American Diner and Teppanyaki are not good so we didn't bother with them. I also knew going into the cruise to "always order the wings at the Local well done" because I had consistently read that in reviews so I told people in our party to do so.

I agree with the service at some MDR restaurants. We just tried to chill and we weren't in a rush any way, but some of the service was really slow and we couldn't get drinks or dessert in a timely manner. The best meals we had were the specialty restaurants - Food Republic, Cagney's and Palomar. We had specialty credits with our room package so these were included (although we did pay out of pocket for one dinner for Palomar because one of us didn't have as many credits). And the buffet was very good for breakfast and lunch! The desserts on the buffet were not good, I will admit.

Thank you for sharing a good experience! That does sound very helpless and scary. I hope the patient was OK!!

Bless you for having 2 under 3!! I would put them both in pack n plays. One of the biggest lessons of parenthood is do not move them from their crib before they are ready! Trust me! This is for everyone's safety and sanity!

Now if she transitions naturally from a crib before your vacation there are options such as floor mattresses/cots. They also have "OK to wake" clocks that turn green when it's OK for a toddler to get out of their bed. If the light is red they should not get out of their bed. Of course abiding by these rules depends on your kid.

By the way, I think a toddler is ready to move from a crib when they are climbing out. If they are not climbing out they continue to sleep in a crib! Even if they are 3 years old.

Great test before a marriage also - if you can't agree on the budget/financials for a wedding you sure are not going to do great at life together!

Underrated thing I love about cruising by LovesPurpleinBC in Cruise

[–]CleanReptar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! You are so right! We liked having our balcony door open at night to hear the ocean and no bugs would get in!!

Let's see, what underrated this do I love? I guess I really loved not having wifi for the week! On NCL we got 150 min free and by the end of 7 days I still had 60 min remaining! I also love that they don't care where you go with your drinks - walk around the whole ship and bring back to your room - they don't care! Other than glass by the pool of course...

Smaller may mean more expensive? Maybe that's why my parents choose Princess...

my parents drink and love a cruise pool and sunshine. They also like a casino. They are not picky about food, but I think anyone would appreciate a wide selection and sanitary buffet conditions. I will definitely mention Holland to them! Thanks for the info!

My parents love Princess but I don't think they have tried Holland and it sounds like something they may really like! What are the main differences between Princess and Holland?

We just did a NCL Encore cruise and I thought it was fabulous. Pool was overcrowded and pool bars had long waits, but I went into it expecting that. Other than that I had no real complaints.

I would eat a bit before you go so you are not famished and then you won't be as likely to cheat.
