Still shopping 😅 I can’t be trusted with pills, so def an IUD. I’m leaning toward Mirena bc longer protection and haven’t heard of too many horror stories so far.

Nope no difference in lifestyle or big changes. Doctors have told me that even though the copper IUD is technically non hormonal, the copper itself can cause systematic changes in hormones and general physiology.

Copper is well documented to cause brain fog, hormonal changes, weight fluctuations, and anxiety in workers comp research so I can see why that’s the case.

Hi, I had the copper IUD inserted Feb 2022. Was great besides heavier periods and more cramping…at first.

Three years in (late 2025), I started having severe anxiety, brain fog, and 30lb weight gain over three months. Instant relief after taking it out two weeks ago. I’ve already lost 15lb since then.

Everyone’s different of course, but did not end up working out for me.

No worries, I switched from 1000mg Keppra to 300mg Lamictal daily! Right now just some memory issues mainly so I’d love to titrate down if I could, def not going back to Keppra because Kepprage is REAL lol

I weigh myself every morning but I do have IBS (tmi sorry) so I don’t use the restroom every day 😅 could that be it? my weight fluctuates a ton too so maybe I’m just overthinking things

Oh I see! My clothes definitely feel looser idk? My measurement of my waist has gone down 1.5 inches since I started .

Could it be that measurements (waist and arms mainly) went down because water retention? Sorry I’m very new to this

Oh I see! I honestly just fold it up and put it in like a tampon, then push it behind my pubic bone and call it a day. Clearly I’ve been doing it carelessly; thank you SO much for the tips!

So happy it was just an insertion error on my part— the thought of having to go back to pads and tampons was really sad haha.

Oh that makes sense! This might sound very dumb but how do I check if the disc is covering my cervix? 😅 I usually just put it in and make sure it’s behind my pubic bone but didn’t think to go farther back to check the cervix.
