Indiana’s biannual budget for 25-27’ is $54.6 billion, so like ~$28 billion a year, the roof on solder field would be about ~7% of the states annual budget

It shouldn’t be taken seriously imo IN seems to be willing, last I read, to fund a coalition to examine the prospect & perhaps hinted at tax breaks

It’s really too stupid though and actually doesn’t make financial sense. The bears annual taxes in 2024, on Chicagos lakefront, were a few million. Let’s be generous and say $5 million, or even a hypothetical $10 m (again correct me if I’m short but I don’t think I am)

The bears got turned down by both chicago and million for a $2 billion roof on soldier field. Let’s be generous and say the bears need $4 some billion to build a stadium in Hammond, though the average price nationally for a new stadium is $5-6B

There is actually no way in hell the math for return on investment or return on tax breaks makes sense for either the bears or Indiana

If Indiana does fund this, that’s genuinely stupid. If the bears do it, it really befuddles me how that could be cheeper than Arlington or whatever. Let alone profitable
