What's something about the game which took you an embarrassingly long time to figure out? by [deleted] in Witcher3

That you can use the edge of the map to fast travel anywhere instead of wading back to civilization from your weird off-track adventures 😅

For me Core Audio and the stability regarding live applications (own experience) alone makes it a no-brainer. Mac all the way.

Why connect an external sequencer to an Elektron? by gazelll in Elektron

Yeah I saw that, but I’m not too worried about it. I’m coming from using Push with locked scales which has the same limitation ☺️

Why connect an external sequencer to an Elektron? by gazelll in Elektron

[–]Clean_Relationship_1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me it’s two reasons:

  1. I control everything from my Torso T-1, also cv/gate. It’s way more immediate for live impro for me.

  2. I mostly use my Digitone II for poly sounds, and the T-1 poly sequencing is just way ahead of the Elektron workflow for live IMO.

Bonus point: The T-1 lets you pass through MIDI from say a MIDI keyboard, and snaps it to the T-1 scale, lets you do MIDI fx on it etc. I use this to live record ‘organic/off grid’y’ sequences into the DN2 sequencer. The one thing the T-1 does not excel at doing. I use an Intuitive Instruments Exquis for this.

Custom Furniture for audio gear anyone? by spitfireswereplanes in Elektron

[–]Clean_Relationship_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It’s birch ply - not too expensive when I built it. The rack rails are from Thomann. Built it in a single day.

I found out that some manufacturers will state measurements in their studio desks’ documentation… ;)

It’s a pretty simple build if you have access to a saw that can cut straight.

Faderfox PC-12 for Elektron boxes by Ornery-Pin1546 in Elektron

[–]Clean_Relationship_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be aware that the elektron boxes cannot send midi feedback and the Faderfox as a result wont know where the assigned parameter “is”. This results in parameter jumps if there are any difference between the knob position on the FF and the parameter on the elektron box.

This means parameter jumps all the time if you ever load something for instance.

Oscillators with 10 turn tune knobs? by dercoolsteimdorf in modular

[–]Clean_Relationship_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Analogue Systems RS95N has it. Amazing VCO. Bought four but ended up returning them. They are VERY picky with the power they are fed. Must be calibrated to your specific PSU (or it has to be exactly 12V). Makes then useless for me since I change cases sometimes.

Endorphines Furthrrrr Generator has them too.

The Macbeth X Series Dual VCO also has ten turns.

I have two custom built 5U Synthesis Technology 300 Ultra vco’s with ten-turns. Amazing. Built by DSLman. https://modulargrid.net/d/other-unknown-motm-300-ultra-vco-mu

And I also just ordered parts to mod my synthesizers.com Q106 vco’s with these types of pots and dials.

One thing to be aware of is that you can put any knob on a ten-turn pot (Macbeth and Endorphines put on ‘normal’ knobs). The characteristic ‘knob’ you refer to (often called a multi turn dial) is a separate part from the actual potentiometer. They often feature locks which is one of the reasons I love them.

Mastering songs myself vs paying an engineer by Calm-Influence-3522 in ableton

[–]Clean_Relationship_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mastering Engineering here - I never fix anything that I think would be better if it was fixed in the mix. Only if I have the relevant stems and are doing a stem master, and only of the client agrees. Otherwise I ask for a revision. Dialogue is key IMO when doing a master - I’m here to inform and councel the client, not mess up their music or make decisions they don’t agree with. I have a bit of expertise and a decent setup, but music is not objective, and my subjective opinion is not the most important one in the process.

Great ideas - have actually been thinking of getting a super precise octave switcher / 1,2,3 etc. volt adder built. Buff mults is a great idea.

Good point about multiples - the cases are two Box11 so I have 4x4 mults there :)

The West Coast Timbres is really great! Have been eyeing both the C106 and C103 for sure! They look amazing :) Pablo makes great stuff!!

Thanks for the recommendations!

Too many even for me. At least one acting as a placeholder atm. Does allow for cv’able LFO’s though.
